Why is OpenMW "for noobs", can MWSE just do a lot more?
User friendly and a weird outdated stigma that since it has fewer mods compatible, it's mainly for "vanilla" playthroughs. MWSE vs OpenMW at this stage is pure autism. The latter already runs better so it's really a matter of what mods you like really. If the SE lua exclusive mods are a dealbreaker issue, play MWSE. If not, play OpenMW. It's really that simple.

Accidentally modding Snow Whales into the game is pretty jokes
They had huge hitboxes and one pinned me against the side of a mountain, couldn’t get past without killing it and it had an enormous amount of hit points so it took like an hour. Leveled up some skills at least.

Edited to prevent double posting, but has anyone tried the VR version of Skyrim? I picked it up for real cheap recently but I’ve heard it needs a ton of mods to be worth much.

Or be like me, have both for different types of modlists.

The Skyblivion team did a year-end progress video.

To summarize, ~90% of cells are finished with a bit less than half navmeshed, ~95% of objects modelled, and ~85% of quests are 'finished' but none outside of the Fighter's Guild are QA'd.

They might actually make 2025. What a wonderful boon an absolute lack of trannies, niggers, and faggots turns out to be that the Skywind team doesn't share.

I looked up the Skywind reddit page and they're posting concept art.
It's been 12 years!
What are you doing?!

Imagine waiting thirteen years to play a nineteen year old game remade in a fourteen year old engine.

Once again not a dunk or a jab but genuine curiosity: do any of you who enjoy fishing in video games enjoy fishing in real life?
I haven't been fishing in years but I think I'd like it because it's mostly just an excuse to rest pleasantly in nature and maybe get something cool out of it. Fishing is peak.

I'm gonna soft say it will be moved to 2026 but actually finished, which is still great. I'm putting off another Oblivion playthrough for this and it's bound to be better than whatever remaster Bethesda shits out this year.

Oblivion is the worst of the three games so honestly it will be like getting Oblivion but not as shit this time.

"Never coming out" is my catchphrase at this point, same with /tesg/'s. The whole concept of porting the older games to the newer, shitter game will never not make me laugh.

Fishbro, hell yeah.

Why? Who is this for? Is this to help chronic cheesers who physically cannot stop cheesing the game (which I'd say is something you should do from time to time) or is this someone shoves in a Wabbajack list to force someone into playing how they want to play. In which case:
>unchecks box
I was scrolling through patchs for BCOM and found it.

I look at this and found out they had to make their own 3D assets because it was illegal to do it with oblivion ones apparently?
All I can think to myself is, "Why?"
Why would you waste time and money remaking a fucking game when you guys clearly have the talent and team that could make your own small version of a game and sell it.
Todd thanks you for your service in getting people to buy his game once again by doing nothing.
Maybe he'll patch the game in a few months after release to break your version of it for shits n giggles.

I kind of get it. The old Oblivion assets wouldn't really hold up and most of the Skyrim assets would be out of place so to stay true to the goal of the project, almost everything had to be remade. Any legal issues are beyond me though. When it does come out, there should be a big fat banner plastered everywhere saying set the fucking app manifest file to read only.

It's easier to copy than to invent.
If they were to make a original game it would involve a lot of fall pits that a lot of modern games fall for.

The goal with Skyblivion is likely to attract some industry attention while earning some patreon money to sustain yourself.
If Skyblivion actually manages to keep to its announced launch year then it will actually look impressive on a resume.

Call me cynical, but if they do release the Oblivion remake just to undercut their kidders, it’d be both hilarious and deserved. Hopefully, it’ll teach the community that they don’t give a flying fuck.

I don't think necessarily it would be done to undercut.

But, if it happens one of two scenarios will play out.
It will be amazing and overshadow the past 10 years they spent making it. :optimistic:

Or the more likely scenario.
It will be god awful, a mess, and half as good as their fangame.
And GOD WILLING. Microsoft will DMCA the fan project.
Now THAT. That would be the most hilarious shit imaginable.
Or they'll DMCA it right before release so we'll only have their word to go off of that it was better and the Bethesda cash grab one will be so awful most people will believe it.
It would be better on them to DMCA it before it comes out though because a direct comparison would be a lot harder to recover from in modern times.
And you know big influencers could get at least 3-4 videos each content farming it. Where a DMCA Before gets maybe a 15 minute video going "Well that's a bummer."

I honestly don't think we're going to see a Oblivion remake anytime soon.
The rumors of it running Unreal engine on top of the original engine is complete horseshit, and I think if Microsoft had a win in its belt they would have shown it by now.
Microsoft and Bethesda are infamous for playing their hand early.
We're fast approaching Elder Scrolls 6 having been announced for longer than between the release if Skyrim and the announcement of elder scrolls 6.

The theory I have seen about TES VI and I have strongly come to agree with it was that they did this because they knew Microsoft wanted to buy them and they wanted a stronger negotiation stance.
E: that said the two engine game thing sounds absolutely like uncle from nintendo bullshit and I agree too.
