I liked the Heartland modpack when I last played a few years ago. It adds some stuff, but is mostly vanilla+. At this point though I'd probably just wait for Skyblivion.

You can try Nehrim. Its a total conversion mod that is nearly as big as the original.
It only has English subtitles though, the dub is in German. Its also painfully late 2000s with its atheism and edgy anime villains.
However it did away with level scaling and revamped the leveling into a traditional xp system. Overall I think its a better game than Oblivion because it utilizes the gameplay and character building much better (I think Oblivion had great potential in both those categories) and aged much better, which isnt really all that surprising because Oblivion aged like shit.

Oh and the love interest/occasional companion changes sex to the opposite of your character because faggot shit wasnt tolerated back then even in a wholesome chungus indie mod made by German libs. Little food for thought for the faggots defending "body types".

You are operating on the assumption that any random person in this thread would rather buy the game instead of just waiting for the crack. I don't even care if there's a sale, the game's 20 years old. In the next fiveish years, most consumers will be able to reliably emulate the PS3 release on whatever device they have.

I personally have a hard time going on with this, the graphics aren’t terrible and some of the art direction (especially with armors) are a direct upgrade. But it feels uncanny having this weird mishmash of new and old voices and sound effects. It feels like a game that is skinwalking oblivion
