TAMRIEL REBUILT EXPANSION CONFIRMED FOR THE 1ST OF MAY 2025 : D
This is literally the most hype thing in all video games for me. The quality level of this mod is beyond any rpg content that's come out since vanilla Morrowind. I've been obsessively stalking the development progress since the last release. I think the Andothren (now Bal Foyen) Thieves Guild questline is my favorite, although the content in a certain Oblivion realm was also very cool. I only played the mod for the first time like last year with Dominions of Dust/Embers of Empire, and I literally spent like an entire day just in Old Ebonheart and its immediate surroundings. I've tried lots of different quest/dungeon mods for Vvardenfell but so far none of them really compare to the mainland. It's hard to believe modders created it.

Did y'all get a look at the size of the Narsis catacombs? That's probably the next black hole I'm going to be stuck in for a whole ass day when this releases.

You have mouths that look like muppet or boglin puppet mouths with how they gape open.

And I noticed these misaligned/broken necks where you can see noticeable lumps on the left hand side that stick out like they suffer from lymphadenitis.

it's so jarring, CLEARLY they wanted to do the whole "let's keep the npcs goofy because it's oblivion!" but they were never intended to be goofy, it was just the state of game tech at the time and their ambitions caused them to end up that way, which most fans were impressed with initially then found endearing later on. it's like a weird self-aware and unfunny SNL joke or something.

So, at the risk of sounding like an oblivious idiot, is the Oblivion Remaster worth getting on PS5? My PS3's not doing so hot as of now, and my PC's not the best either; any suggestions?
If your PC is at PS3 levels, I'd suggest upgrading your PC. Cheaper than a PS5, but more power for your buck.

It's going to be kino. The Anvil expansion for Cyrodiil was awesome. If the faction questlines are as good as those then we're in for a great time.

Buy or pirate the original.

I've actually got a copy of the original on PS3; problem is, the old system is breaking down pretty badly. Every time I turn the damn thing on it sounds like it's about to explode from how loud the fan gets, and before you ask: yes, I've tried getting it fixed, but none of the local stores were any help.

Just play the original on PC.

Like I said, my PC's a piece of shit; battery's fallen apart, fan's barely working as is, and it shuts down/freezes when I try to run anything more stressful than a few basic tabs online. Local computer store shut down a while back, next closest store is well over an hour's drive away, and I'm a bit strapped for cash at the moment thanks to being out of a job for the past several months.

I certainly will when I get the chance; my PC's long overdue for an upgrade. Had the damn thing for the better part of a decade, now.

So now that the shameless oblivion cash grab is out, I’m sort of tempted to play the original that’s been sitting on my bookshelf untouched for the past 15 years. Anyone got a good, essential modding guide a-la viva new Vegas?

The biggest pain with the game so far out of it all is tcl, player.moveto and prid commands no longer work

So if someone's stuck or if you get stuck. That's it. Shit outta luck. Especially if it's a mod added quest
lol, lmao even
This is how you know this is made for the biggest, most drooling non-gamer casual niggercattle imaginable: The kind that doesn't know about console commands. In Bethesda games, these aren't a suggestion or a nice cheat code, they are mandatory. Something WILL eventually break in every playthru, it's just a matter of time. Console peasants(ie who this demaster is aimed at) just have to deal with it, on PC at least you can fix the issue yourself if you're savvy enough.
Maybe I'm just a conspiratard, but isn't it weird that people compared Avowed to OG Oblivion shortly before the remaster came out and shat on avowed even more?
They could have compared it to Skyrim or Skyrim SE, but it was specifically Oblivion.
I'm pretty sure that's because both Avowed and Oblivion are generic fantasy based where as Skyrim has it's own distinct Scandinavian setting. Also, it's funny to compare Avowed to a 20 year old game that still has more features and depth than it.
Forgive me if already brought up, SUPPOSEDLY nexus readded the mod. BUT, I'm sus as fuck about it.

Why?

>they say it was banned because someone was causing drama. Doesn't acknowledge various reuploads other bans
>size is now 10x what it used to be, from 2 MB, to 25 MB.
>UNCHARACTERISTIC AS FUCK for nexus mods

I don't particularly feel like fucking around with a possible virus, but if anyone who can NOT virus themselves wants to look at it, I'd appreciate it.

Heres another version, note, its 1/10th the size of the nexus file.

I'd really appreciate if someone feels they can (safely) archive whatever that fucking file is. Do at your own risk mind you
If the mods really did upload a virus just to spite people(and will later blame it on the mod author) then they might be possibly looking at some legal issues. I truly do hope this happens so it can finally end this shitty site, I have had enough of it's near monopoly on mods for years now.

In the announcement video for Oblivion Remastered Todd Howard said that Oblivion "is a game of it's time" like that's a bad thing. Plastering this new ultra realistic skin on this game from 2006 just makes the game much more awkward and unnatural than it was when it was released. The npc AI seems to behave the exact same as the og Oblivion, which was pretty shitty by today's standards, but now that it has this modern ultra detailed skin, making it look like a game from 2025, just makes it seem so much more shitty than it did originally. Seeing the Imperial City in the remaster feels like a fucking joke because it's so tiny despite the new "epic" look it has which makes it seem so much more silly than when it has it's original graphics that compel you to use your imagination more as intended.

Progressive rot is always an indication of much deeper and profound problems
It's so bad, that I didn't even have to check if the oblivion remaster would have this tranny pandering type 1/2 BS, I Just Knew
the look of current devs working on the remaster matches perfectly who I imagined them to be.
and I already knew nexus would ban/block all ways trying to change that to male/female

all of this is from 1 second of thinking "what if oblivion was remastered today?"
and I was 100% correct on everything

oh but don't think about any of this, that's just culture war BS and doesn't matter
it's correct, part of reality, and something that you can easily predict, but just don't point it out.
you're no better than the other side if you criticize this aspect of a game.

Most of the gamers on here are no better than niggers. Just buy it if you have the spare cash, or wait a few months and get it on sale.

It’s a bit of nostalgia and not as terrible as some of the virgins on here are screeching about.

The fact that gooner mods haven't flooded in and it's still just minor fixes, cheats, and reshades should tell you this mod scene is DOA.
People interested in the demaster aren't attracted to women. There will probably be a few 4K dick mods for males and furry/scaly porn mods for the Frontier developer tier degenerates out there but I doubt anyone who is into gooning it to Bethesda games will bother. They didn't for Starfield and they won't here, even tho it would just be a simple port job in this case.
Speaking of which, I find it hilarious that the NPCs here are rivaling the ugliest mutts in New Atlantis as far as ugliness and dysgenic looks go. As people pointed out, Oblivion/Fallout 3/New Vegas potato faces were the limitations of the engine. Skyrim/Fallout 4 NPCs looked much better, trying to deliberately keep them ugly for le hecking memes and social media updoots is one hell of a dumb move. You know what WOULD actually move sales copies among older fans for whom mere nostalgia baiting isn't enough? Actually making the game look like how they always imagined it should with current technology, not making your game look like some memey amateur fan project.

That's another thing, imagine actually fixing all these problems that were only there due to the engine. They should have used the Fallout 4/Skyrim engine to remaster everything from scratch and bring back cut content at the very least, but no, you just get an ugly UE5 filter over everything and get to play the same exact game as 20 years ago but worse since it has censorship now. That will be 60$, please!

Implying you totally aren't an incel yourself, nosirreebob.

With Veilguard, EA finally put its foot down and fired everyone who had a hand in writing the content of that game, and the same process will repeat itself elsewhere with other companies if there's a similar string of failures.
It remains to be seen whether these actions were merely performative, or they actually learned some kind of a lesson and try to prevent future disasters. Did they fire the devs, because they failed to entertain and make money, or because they failed to effectively spread the message? I'm not sure anymore, as it seem they are far more motivated by politics, instead of money. I'm afraid, as long as they are married to the DEI ideology, they will keep hiring from the same, stale pool of activist developers, who will keep forcing their bullshit into games.
if online discourse around something is so negative even prior to release he might be put off.
I'm going to quote a true and honest gamer I'm unfortunate to know:

"Well, I know The Last of Us 2 is full of lmbtq bullshit, but I bought it anyway, because I liked the first one."
"Well, I know Yasuke was probably not really real, but I kind of like Japanese culture, so I feel like I'm gonna buy AC Shadows."

Granted this is just one guy, but for me, he is the living representation of the mindless consumer. He relentlessly consumes shit, even if he is keenly aware of the fact, that he is indeed gorging on shit. The dude actually douses almost every food he eats with ketchup. Even if sales take a dent, his existence proves there are plenty of morons who will keep paying for dogshit AAA games, no matter what.
In recent years discourse online around games that try to make political statements or pander to a non-existent audience get so awful nobody can tell if the game is actually good or bad, so they don't bother participating, even to ask questions about a game's quality.
Sadly, most video games these days suck ass, even if we completely ignore all the political elements. This shouldn't come as a surprise, because woke developers are primarily interested in spreading propaganda, instead of making fun gameplay mechanics. It doesn't help that corpo execs also demand every game to be dumbed down, to become accessible for everyone between ages of 0-99.

Alas, I hope you are right and we will live to see great games becoming the norm again. The recent backlash against the most egrigious culprits is promising, but I fear it will take another decade for some meaningful change to manifest.
