Oblivion is a great game. Skyrim really rode to popularity because it was smaller and thus appealing more to a mass audience (more shared experience), was simpler (better for niggercattle), and rode on the back of Game of Thrones hype. Looking at the writing of modern RPGs, especially the "romances", I don't think we would get anything decent even if the zeitgeist wasn't focused on appealing to the mentally ill. Shitty writing skillsand shallow pool of inspiration is the bigger problem here, as

Writers these days don’t seem to have read decent books, preferring to have watched the films or tv adaptions and depend on video games for their creative inspirations.

Wheel of time for instance, the books are a massive epic read which makes lord of the rings look like spot the dog in comparison.

The TV adaptation is really hit and miss, glossing over loads of story points and detail, but going quite in depth to things which just happen to fit with today’s sentiment.

A video game writer who read the whole thing would have a load more coherent Plot points to be inspired by and base a few side quests on.
And this is the problem, the current writers don’t have the same sense of depth.

RPGs need a good story, deep plots to become engaged in.
A platform game or shooter, less so.

Oblivion is a great game. Last good game Bethesda made was Morrowind, and most people I talked to that praise Oblivion are babies who had it as their first RPG 20 years ago and haven't even heard of Daggerfall, let alone played it. Nostalgia is a hell of a thing.
I will go a step further and say that the remaster is terrible because the base game was mediocre and all you had to do was marginally improve on it to at least update the technical and graphical issues the game had. You can't fix shitty gameplay mechanics or writing without overhauling the whole thing, but you can at least bring the game up to modern standards, they couldn't even do that properly.

Every change I see made just makes the game look more generic, which is hilarious as Oblivion might be the most bland Western RPG of all time already. Sure, just take away what little it has going for it for the "modern audiences", Bethesda niggers deserve it.

I prefer the remade statue. I think they took inspiration from ESO here, where they made most Imperial statues have heroic/warrior poses. It fits the Imperial artstyle and the culture. I mean it's Alessia, if any character warrants a 'stronk woman' pose, especially in a statue made by people who revere her, it's her.

I actually don't hate the change. The original statue was rather generic (just a lady in a dress just standing there), and the new one emphasizes that she was a leader of a slave rebellion with the chains by her feet and more dynamic pose with a weapon. My main issue is the uppercut pose just looks weird, a pose that conveys leadership is typically holding up something to rally the men or pointing forward like giving orders. Her current pose just makes me think she got a strike in bowling.
