Oblivion is a mediocre game, just like Fallout 3 is a mediocre game and Skyrim is a mediocre game and Fallout 4 is a mediocre game. Last good game Bethesda made was Morrowind, and most people I talked to that praise Oblivion are babies who had it as their first RPG 20 years ago and haven't even heard of Daggerfall, let alone played it. Nostalgia is a hell of a thing.

Morrowind and Daggerfall are RPGs, Oblivion is barely one. Skyrim is an action game with a skill tree. Morrowind and Daggerfall are arguably the only good games Bethesda has ever truly made and they are the ones with the most amount of depth, everything else is just garbage held together by the modding community(not even guaranteed anymore thanks to Starfield)

You're putting it lightly, it's a borderline Ubisoft title wearing the skin of a popular IP. Even then it doesn't do it properly since it has a troon and a bunch of niggers that completely take you out of the game. It's telling that even with it's success they never made any DLCs for it, it only had any success due to the name on the box and the free advertising troons gave it, not on it's own merit.

ESO wasn't made by Bethesda, and they actively refuse to even acknowledge it, for a good reason. It's not only ugly, predatory and garbage gameplay wise, but full of actual LGBT nonsense, just short of F76 and its collection of tranny/pedophile emblems. Like the Summerset expansion has a literal clown troupe of trannies, and one of their hireling NPCs was advertised as non-binary. There's a lesbian couple in Vivec, and one of them is a foreMAN overseeing the construction of the city. Naturally, they get praised and glorified after the VVardenfell questline concludes. Livestreams are also full of the typical forced positivity and awkward smiles you'd expect from people who genuinely hate and repulse each other but are forced to put up a smiling façade. It's good that their latest roadmap promises "subclasses", because destruction of class identity is what usually kills an MMO.

Morrowind has a better main story, better writing, a more interesting world to explore and allows for way more player freedom. But you're going to ignore all of that and call it janky because the combat isn't flashy.

I like Oblivion, but it can't hold a candle to Morrowind in terms of being an actual RPG.

As opposed to Morrowind, which is in fact the best RPG because it’s what you played at age 13. Personally my candidate for that honour is Deus Ex, even if the impact of your choices is usually pretty limited, it’s the RPG I played at 13 so it fucking rules.

Anyway, I think we’re getting into the weeds a bit. It’s fine if you think Oblivion sucks. It’s not like I’m rushing to go and replay it either.

They literally claim that even the tiniest pushback amounts to wanting to conduct a genocide campaign against them - you see it every time there's a court case that doesn't go their way or an organization like Mermaids that goes down in flames for systemic mismanagement.

They do this because they don't really have any position they can justify; just hyperbole and being very loud. They know they can't defend themselves on merit and will lose a numbers game every single time - even with a 1300% increase in people self-identifying as trans over the last six years, they are still very much a small minority on the internet and they know it's only by curling their tentacles around positions of power can they hope to keep others under their dominion.

I'm much older than that so it is hardly the first RPG I ever played. I also never said it's one of the best, I merely said it's one of the best Bethesda made. I also didn't say Oblivion "sucks", I said it is a mediocre game because that's the truth. It wasn't anything special in 2006, and it isn't anything special now, it only got the praise it did get thanks to the mods and horde of clueless console gamers that didn't know better. You can praise your little console "RPG" as much as you want, but at least don't put words in my mouth when you do.

The weather effects on the character are a nice touch. This is the first time I've played the game for real (like, completing quests and actually trying to progress instead of killing everyone and stealing everything). It's so janky, but I definitely see the charm.
