The Elder Scrolls

I've seen people mod in stuff directly from Skyrim and Fallout 4 onto vanilla Morrowind and it worked. It's the same engine bro.

Same script language but vastly different engine. Like Unreal Engine that's been used in game since the 90' with different iterations and modifications along the years.

The one used in Oblivion Remastered is probably a very souped up version of the original GameBryo used for Oblivion and Morrowind back in the day, and a field test for the new ES6.

Script Extender for Oblivion Remastered has been released.
The game runs in 64-bit now, right? I wonder if there's a way to untether the UE5 shit from it and have the base game with the remaster's fixes/improvements? Or just a 64-bit version of Oblivion by itself? Could be the definitive version of the game if such a thing were possible.

Because consoles still use 64bit infraestructure. Easier too develop and test too if they only have one dev kit for all versions (although xbox and ps are unique, they share the same infraestructure). Script extenders are used by a lot of games that need more capabilities for mods or to bypass certain engine limitations (or even force correct limitations too).

120 GB?! Isn't that like half of the average SSD?

And isn't the original game pretty much the same?

(and getting tired of Clown World "body type" BS)
Imagine thinking you're average, and everyone knows you're tiny.

I'm getting below 50 fps in some parts playing on 4k max settings without DLSS and fake frames on my 5090 :story:. Bethesda has the full backing of Microsoft and they still can't bother optimizing their games for shit, especially so if the newest overpriced flagship GPU can't even hit a stable 4k 60 at native ultra. My hatred for UE5 and modern game devs keeps growing by the minute

I bought it, installed on my PC (linux btw), run through proton, entered the overworld and got ~20 FPS on a beefy machine, all the settings are infested with AI and temporal bullshit, nothing helped, refunded. Fuck this shit.

That's a personal problem.

Unreal Engine is the worst thing to happen in videogames in a long time. Developers are not coders anymore just people who go into a program that does everything for them. They can't even figure out how to use unreal engine's capabilities for optimization because there is no incentive for them to do so. Everyone buys up the UE slop. We need people who design their own engines again.

This argument is the reason why every new game that comes out performs like absolute shit. We shouldn't expect to have to use DLSS and Frame Generation in order to run games at stable performance, it should just run properly out of the box especially since most new games cost 70 dollars now

>we shouldn't be expected to use feature sets of our GPUs
Imagine buying a 5090 and not even using it because you want to make a statement about how you think games should be developed. You might as well just pull the cooler off and use the underside to peel vegetables.
