Nah it's actually good. Tbh I haven't played it (yet) but it looks really good with all the UE5 lighting and new textures and sounds. I don't think that 50 bucks is that much for something like this, feels more like a remake rather than a remaster.

I find it funny that people are making big deal out of the modding of the body type 1 and 2 out of Oblivion remaster. It doesn't matter if people mod the woke shit out. The developer doesn't care if you mod body type 1 and 2 back into male and female. They already have your money. That's all that matters. Virtuous doesn't care and Bethesda doesn't care what you do with the game after you give them money for it.

I'm still waiting for people to crash from the nostalgia high and start seeing it for the UE5 garbage that it is. People did the same shit with the GTA remasters and Starfield. The games were great till they weren't.

The game is still Oblivion, so that's a positive or negative depending on your viewpoint. It's not like people who like it are going to go "HOLY SHIT! OBLIVION WAS ALWAYS BAD!" They recognize its problems and either embrace them or just accept them. People who hate it aren't going to be wowed by this.

If nothing else, the reaction more or less gives Bethesda an infinite money cheat for the foreseeable future. Low on cash? Simply remaster Morrowind/FO3/NV/Skyrim ad inifinitum to get a fresh injection of revenue.

It seems to be well crafted and received well.
But why remake a 20 year old game?

I think it is as simple as all western studios have lost their way and forgotten how create a compelling story and good writing.
So, the only thing they can do is just re-release/re-make games of the olden days that were written before retarded millennials took over.

It is either re-makes of games written 20 years ago by people that were not retarded or it is no succesful games at all.
This will not help stave away the eastern developers taking over the AAA space. Those guys in China/Korea/Japan seem to have no problem writing good stories even with current-day writers.

Honestly the best thing western game companies can do with their writers is bash them over the head until they forget everything and then send them to shadow the Yakuza devs for 6 months. Those guys might be batshit insane but they know how to make a game with soul and fun

I'm usually very critical of generic-looking graphics, but idk, imo oblivion looks great.
Only thing I dislike is the color palette. OG Oblivion is known for its super saturated colors, but the remaster is so.. Idk brown?

For anyone hoping for a new mod renaissance for Oblivion Remastered, forget about it. Ignoring the fact that asset mods for Unreal engine games is a massive pain, every Bethesda game has had a different kind of modding community as the audience and games change.

I always recall skyrim being coomer bait with mods. I remember seeing a few youtubers around that time who JUST made videos on smutty skyrim girl mods, presenting them with the flair of virtual prostitutes. Almost as if a sales pitch. And its definitely where shit like loverslab and crap became better known.

This wasnt the only to do nudie mods, but it was probably where it noticably exploded. Like sure, I've seen topless quake 3 mods which are more novelty than anything, but I think back when everything looked like a cardboard statue it was more edgy "HAHA, LOOK, YOU CAN SEE HER TITS" and not wank material.

Really tying cooming to gaming is a horrible idea.
