The Elder Scrolls

As far as I can say, since I had been playing it for a couple of days - it's almost 1 to 1 recreation. Only thing that is missing is a local map(or maybe I am an idiot). I pirated it, before you jump into conclusion
Another thing is in Russian localization there's no type 1-2 body. There's only sex - male and female. Because people converted localization from the original game

The local map is on the world map, you need to zoom in and then zoom in some more
Or click on the little circle at the top right
Edit: when you zoom in, after it won't go further, stop zooming in and then zoom in again i meant

It really got worse though to the point that a lot of mods is just really useless texture mods or mods to make Lydia look like a whore.
No there's a lot more to it. For example land expansions, changes to the mechanics to the point the game is unrecognisable, complete overhauls, completely new games like Enderal, redevelopments to the major quests (jayserpa's mods for example) etc. Skyrim's modding scene is arguably the best in the world in my opinion.

I always recall skyrim being coomer bait with mods. I remember seeing a few youtubers around that time who JUST made videos on smutty skyrim girl mods, presenting them with the flair of virtual prostitutes. Almost as if a sales pitch. And its definitely where shit like loverslab and crap became better known.

This wasnt the only to do nudie mods, but it was probably where it noticably exploded. Like sure, I've seen topless quake 3 mods which are more novelty than anything, but I think back when everything looked like a cardboard statue it was more edgy "HAHA, LOOK, YOU CAN SEE HER TITS" and not wank material.

Really tying cooming to gaming is a horrible idea.
I really don't know what it is about Skyrim that has attracted so much coomer content. I checked the trending page on Nexus and 8/20 mods on the first page were coom bait with the default filter.

Personally I blame MxR Mods and his thumbnails for why they're so popular.

IIRC, there was only one big Skyrim modding YouTube channel, MxR, and he got his channel nuked because he stopped doing mod reviews and started reacting to tiktoks.

I really don't know what it is about Skyrim that has attracted so much coomer content.
Probably the ease of modding and Caliente making a really simple to use editing tool. Not joking, many technical breakthroughs in 3D development were made by coomers.

You say that like 99% of mods weren't to do shit other than give horses "more realistic" genitalia.

Average IQ of each elder scrolls race, best to worse

Altmer: 120. Even their regular soldiers have a grasp of magic and each member of there race seems to be more sharp witted than everyone else on a consistent basis.

Dunmer: 110. Good grasp of magical theory, but there society is utterly dysfunctional in that two of their three major gods are gods of murder and betreyal.

Breton: 108. Good with magic, likely aided by elven ancestry but they're good on there own.

Imperial: 105. While they do have good battlemages and scholars there strength comes from being well organized.

Redguard: 100. I dunno where to put these niggas

Bosmer: 90.

Orc: 90. Disciplined warriors but are poor at organizing.

Nord: 90. In the past they would've likely been higher but as of now I dunno.

Khajit: 85. They seem to have a more instinctual understanding of things.

Argonians: 80. Same with khajit.
Going by the stats in the games and behavior of NPCS:

Altmer: 120

Breton: 118

Imperial: 110

Dunmer: 108

Bosmer: 100

Nord: 96

Orc: 90

Redguard: 87

Khajit: 85

Argonian: 80

omg I remember that, why can't people just make mods that add fun and humor to the game? Because I would totally play it again if this was a mod, with quests:

Shame something like the Skyrim Civil War mod was a hot mess (mainly due to the old af Gamebyro engine and coding limitations), but it was still very cool.

As far as "the way it's intended," I want to play the game I was sold. If it doesn't stand up, it's trash and I don't want to go through the trouble of making it something unrecognizable so I can salvage a souffle out of a broken egg/turd mixture.

Daggerfall is intended for you to get lost in a maze the size of Los Angeles when you retrieve a widow's lost brooch.

Morrowind is intended for you to fight cliff racers every 5 seconds.

Oblivion is intended for wolves to go extinct and be replaced by minotaurs everywhere in the world once you've leveled up enough.

Only with TES do people say it's unfair to judge a game as released by the publisher. The only Bethesda game I ever played with mods was New Vegas, and that was just with the Unofficial Patch that fixed broken quests and the like. Because God forbid Bethesda actually playtest all the quests before release.

>demaster (3 times)
>60$
>dollar sign after the number
>ignoring the fact that Oblivion is nearly unplayable due to a 32-bit executable
>suggests mods to let you skydive into a memory crash, rather than walk down stairs

It's not unplayable, it just shits the bed if you do anything too extreme with it. like put more the 12 NPCs on screen at once...
This isn't 2006. I'm not on a 60Hz LCD anymore.
Exactly! it's 2025 and frame generation is available too boost those UE5 games from 19FPS to 39FPS @540p upscaled to 1080p with DLSSXL
The Oblivion remaster is official, though, and I assume some people involved with the original signed off on the updates.
I've always hated community content because most people in the community are retarded. If it's not technical issues with their limited testing, it's stuff like (in the case of TES mods) dependency hell with a prerequisite for a prerequisite for a prerequisite for a prerequisite being hosted only on a MEGA account that got banned 2 years ago for CP trafficking, and things being rolled up together that I would rather separate.

or even worse the prerequisite is in WIP alpha test that hasn't been updates in 15 years and is now incompatible with other mods....
Only silver lining here is that it didn't split the existing modding base like with Skyrim since most people still stuck to the older builds.
Another thing that helped was it being such a blatant unapologetic pos that GOG refused to list it.
Most people wouldn't notice, only modders who worked on these games for years could tell the difference
NIGGA... that's obviously not true considering the fact most people are playing SKYRIM and not Oblivion or Morrowind. :story:
Looks like you edited your post, so let's just unwrap this. Okay, so Skyrim looks flashier, does that make it a better game? No [But we NEED a flashier newier engine giuys!]
[...]
Nobody is mentioning "engine limitations" here
shame we're still years behind current competition on an endlessly outdated engine that still barely works and limits what we can actually do!
I honestly don't even know wtf point you're even trying to make anymore....
thank you for conceding that you don’t actually understand what a game engine is/what it does/why it’s necessary
avowed lost, obshartian lost, Tim Cain will commit suicide before you can suck his dick

and a little something extra since you claim it’s IMPOSSIBLE to do more than 4 dialog options in fallout 4
View attachment 7280445
seems like it was pretty easy to disprove that
The people complaining about the dialogue limits in F4 are actually retarded. the real problem with F4's dialogue is the actual writing. (I don't think fallout 1 ever had more two options most of the time)

"They did it to appease le consooool plebs!!" regardless if that's true Todd is still wrong because the inventory is still a SCROLLABLE LIST on console versions.

It's especially wrong because Mass Effect also had a simple system made for console where the dialogue was still leagues better.
It's 100% the fault of Emil "Keep it simple stupid" Pagliarulo and his insane attitude towards game design and storytelling

Correct, there is more console plebians who don't know what an RPG even is than there are actual RPG fans, especially considering that Morrowind is so old at this point many people who played it 20 years ago have moved on from gaming altogether. Doesn't make Skyrim a good game, or an RPG for that matter, no matter what it's player count is. By this metric, COD and Fifa are also best games ever.

Mass Effect ruined an entire generation of console RPGs, Fallout 4 showed us why this system doesn't work in any RPG that wants to take itself seriously. Emil being a shit writer is just a cherry on top. That dialogue system flopped so badly that they didn't even bother giving us any human NPCs in the next game at all.

Coomers, bronies or furries. Never underestimate the autism of the latter either.

None of the quests having an alternative solution is far worse, for games that are supposed to be about roleplaying this one hurts the most.
I feel like roleplaying has never been a priority in Elder Scrolls even back when it was debatably good. Morrowind is not remembered fondly because of complex moral choices or an emotionally engaging narrative, it's memorable because it's a big world that's filled to the brim with genuinely interesting sidequests and shit to see. There's the odd choice which is nice but to me Elder Scrolls was always the Conan of fantasy RPGs, random adventure stories with pretty flimsy characters to tie them together; it's just a different appeal.

The fuck I wouldn't download a car. I have a HDD full of downloaded Warhammer 40k, Trench Crusade, and similar figurines that go for upwards of $35-200 USD per figurine... or 5 cents of industrial waste. I'd have [razor].1488.ModelT.EVUpdate.Ver153.DRMREMOVED.STL.rar and 1963LincolnContinentalConvertible.EV.SelfDriving5.zip.000 through .053 downloaded before you can say "but muh established industry and innovation."

It mattered more in Daggerfall, altho to be fair that game is more of a sim than an RPG. The first game was mostly a dungeon crawler and Morrowind, despite how much better it is than the later titles, did start the same trend of dumbing down the older titles. Roleplaying there was possible, but not nearly to the extent that it was in Daggerfall, a consequence of still being a console RPG for a time.
Still, compare Morrowind to Oblivion a generation later and the slop that came after, like Mass Effect. Might as well be comparing Hamlet and The Very Hungry Caterpillar.
