The Elder Scrolls

In light of Morrowind becoming a backwards compatible title for the Xbox One, I've decided to give it a go (with the GOTY edition). I am aware of the game's "quirks", but I need some help polishing up my warrior build. Feel free to critique it and offer advice.
  • Race: Redguard.
  • Attributes: Strength and Endurance.
  • Major Skills: Longblade, Block, Heavy Armor, Armorer, Alchemy.
  • Minor Skills: Speechcraft, Security, Alteration, Mysticism, Marksman.
  • Birth Sign: The Lady (+25 Personality & Endurance).
  • Factions: Imperial Legion, House Redoran, Fighter's Guild.

Not a bad choice of skills. Speechcraft can help in having successful taunts if you wanted to kill a guy without the guards coming for you. I would of gotten restoration as a skill but the NPC's that can train the skill can make up for it, especially since unlike other titles, there's no limit beyond skill level and gold in raising a skill. The factions you picked do line up rather well for a fighter based character.

Honestly, I'm a bit iffy on Restoration as I'm not sure if using healing spells is better than making potions since Magicka doesn't regenerate like the other games. That said, I am willing to substitute Marksman for it if the other spells are useful enough.

Oh, and apparently my other minor skills are suitable for the East Empire Company in Bloodmoon, so that's cool.

Far as marksman goes, Tribunal has dwarven darts as a new ranged weapon. 20-50 across the board, more so than Daedric darts which are much rarer and rather weak (2-12 in chop, the rest 0-1). Bloodmoon's very limited Ebony Arrows of Slaying are the only other thing that could go with marksman despite being limited to only 5 arrows, not to mention the enchantments could get reflected back to you.

I'm beginning to hoard perk points in Skyrim.

I'm using the Ordinator Perks mod (among others), all my magics are 100, but I've not the points to flesh out the trees.

I'll go for the SKELETON perks first because i've no way of dealing with magic resistant enemies, and who DOESN'T want to start a skeleton uprising in Markarth to teach the locals a lesson?

I am playing through the mod "Forgotten city" for Skyrim and so far, it is pretty good. It has a timetravel plot and use it for the story.

I've tried that one a little ages ago, and still have it downloaded.

I should give it a look after i'm done with Bruma.

Replaying through Skyrim with a different character. All I can say is that I'm remembering why I like Dragonborn, even if House Hlaalu got fucked in the end.

I always found it fucked up how House Hlaalu became the Dunmer people's scapegoat for the Red Year and the Argonian invasion, all because of their ties to the Empire. Even though I like House Redoran, I honestly can't really blame House Hlaalu for wanting revenge against them.

Much as I sided with Hlaalu in Morrowind due to them being more open than the other houses, it may as well be a two way street and in case of the scapegoat justified. House Hlaalu more or less was dependent on the Empire so they may of not done much other than expecting the Imperials to come in and save them during the events of Oblivion. Compare that to Redoran which more or less was a warrior based Great House.

Though speaking of ties to the Empire, it would of been interesting if Dragonborn made more use of the player's chosen civil war faction. Much as the Redorans won't give a shit about Skyrim's problems, it would be interesting to see how they'd react to a Stormcloak or Legate player. The former possibly derided as a bigoted yet respectable warrior while the latter could be commended for discipline yet also shat on simply for being part of a group that left the Dunmer hanging during Oblivion.

Still, if anything, House Telvanni may as well be better simply in not giving a fuck over it all while building their kickass mushroom towers. Be nice if the other houses were expanded on such as Indoril and Sadras, which more or less taken Hlaalu's spot.

In fairness to Hlaalu, they're more focused on being merchants and diplomats than warriors like Redoran. I'm not sure if there was much they could've done during the Oblivion Crisis other than petitioning the Empire for support or helping set up some trade routes between major settlements.

Really, they just had the unfortunate luck of supporting the Empire while Morrowind went through a hell of a rough patch.
