Bethesda Announces Skyrim Anniversary Edition, Coming November 11

It apparently includes "500 pieces of creation club content" and a new fishing mechanic.

I wasn't even aware there were 500 things within the Creation Club tbqh.

It sounds much like the Special Edition, the upgrade is free if you own it already. (although this seems to an assumption from the article writer as far as I can tell)

As someone who didn't spend a single fucking dime on creation club content, if true lmfao.

Also hoping to see autists argue over if the CC content is canon now.

Has anyone tried Daggerfall Unity? Im hearing really good things about it and it looks pretty sweet. I played the regular game and it was fun but the bugs ended up ruining a character I made. Supposedly this engine fixes a ton of those bugs and adds cool mods like a mod that makes the dungeons smaller(thank Sithis for that one).

I tried it, beat the main story.. Found it MUCH more enjoyable than original daggerfall, but modern games have spoiled me. Word of warning, the mod that makes the dungeons smaller doesn't affect story dungeons, so you'll still spend literal days stuck in some of them if you don't have a guide.

The new edition will feature the Skyrim Special Edition and a mountain of Creation Club content.

It's been almost ten years since the launch of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and to mark the big birthday Bethesda Softworks is releasing the Skyrim Anniversary Edition on November 11—the game's actual ten-year anniversary.

The Skyrim Anniversary Edition will include the Special Edition version of the game, a remastered release with high-resolution textures, upgraded visual effects, and the Dawnguard, Hearthfire, and Dragonborn add-ons, along with more than 500 pieces of Creation Club content: new quests, dungeons, bosses, weapons, spells, and more. If you haven't played Skyrim yet and you're looking to jump in, this is definitely the place to do it.

And if you have already played it, you're not being left out, as the Anniversary Edition will be available as an upgrade for the Special Edition as well. A free next-gen upgrade will also launch on the same day, although it's not clear yet whether it will come to PC (I've asked) and—this is the big one—Bethesda is adding fishing to the game, too. Finally—real fishing!

"It's something I've always wanted to do in Skyrim," managing director Ashley Cheng said. "You don't have to dive into the water and click blindly anymore. You can now grab a fishing pole, do some fishing quests. It's a great addition to the game, it'll be free to everyone, and it really adds to the immersion of the world."

The Skyrim Anniversary Edition is listed in the Bethesda Store, but there's currently no price. For more information on the new edition and other Skyrim anniversary celebrations, hit up skyrim10.com.

For fucks sake, remaster another game. If this was a remaster of oblivion or other older titles that would be one thing, but dear god how many times can you release the same game. Worst part is, there's probably at least two more new editions of it released before they even drop the next in the series.

Honestly, at this rate we might have more versions of Skyrim than we have versions of Street Fighter V.

As for the CC content, did anyone actually spend more than the coins they gave to try and sucker people in? 90% of the time the CC mods were ripped and on the nexus in less than 24 hours anyway, this is probably Bethesda just going "Fuck It"

As Todd Howard said: "Don't want Skyrim, stop buying it."

He has a point. Still laziness but I see his point.

I'm sure some suckers and youtubers bought it.

Thinking about it, was the creation club even on consoles? Maybe this is meant more for them than the PC crowd?

Edit: Wow, they haven't released CC content in almost 2 years. Guess it was a bust, huh?

As a console peasant, can confirm the CC was there. Considering it was listed below the "actual mods" - and there's air quotes there because outside shit like the Unofficial Patches most console mods were fairly gimped if not outright ass - yeah it was a pretty low priority. I'd look through it for a laugh every once in a while, then pop into the mods screen and find everything listed for free.

Paid mods as an experiment appears to have crashed and burned. Small mercies, I guess...

Lol and I'm guessing Sony is going to keep it so that you can't download actually good mods for the ps4?

Thread merge! Fug!

Sounds like Todd is getting worried about Cruelty Squad's plethora of features and expansive gameplay.
