Huge powerlevel but very relevant

I like/hate Robyn because in many ways, she is the bizaro version of me. I won't get into details but I make decent money, under the table, without ever leaving behind my stay at home/trad wife/uber mama/perpetually pregnant lifestyle.

MLM schemes are the absolute dumbest way for the stay at home, ubber mama arch type to make money. There are sooooo many good side hustles one can do, that even include teaching moments for the kids or getting them involved. She could be gardening and selling excess plants, jaring her own perserves, selling fresh veggies, etc. She could be baking her own crunchy woo mama baked goods and selling those. As someone else mentioned, whe could open her own Etsy and sell woo mama merch. Hell she has the time, she could even go to garage sales/thrift stores and flip stuff online.

theres a ton of side hustles she could do that obviously wouldnt pay the bills, but she would, at the very least, have her own little pile of personal fun money for whatever she wants, or at least help with some things around the house. She could still film and document what she is doing and put her woo spin on it, but MLM is not the way to do it /SPOILER]
I think the problem is she wants to make a lot of money with the least amount of effort. That’s why she fell into the MLM trap. Realistically, a side hustle is her only option, especially now that baby #3 is on its way. She can make some money here and there but they won’t thrive financially any time soon. I think that bothers her and goes against her woo woo beliefs that all you need is morning sadhanas and a vision board to become rich.

Side note: Every time she uses the word thrive it makes me think of the Watts. As much as I don’t like Glenn, I can empathize with his frustration which likely has to do with his retarded wife blowing his money on bullshit and getting them deeper and deeper in debt.

Big reason also seems to be the fact that the only thing she really enjoys doing, besides staring at her own reflection like a malsocialized parrot, is listening to her own voice. All of her MLM hustles involve her giving some sort of "courses" and "mentorship".

Right. Being a mentor/ spiritual teacher is a huge power trip and source of narcissistic supply. Something your average side hustle cannot provide.

I googled Robyn's new Freedom Formula hustle alongside the word "scam." The results were about what you'd expect.

Is the Freedom Formula a Scam? -- archive
Freedom Formula Review -- archive
Freedom Formula Review (2) -- archive

There's more than one scammy program with this name, so I hope I'm getting the right one. Regardless, the language that Robyn is using-- language I'm guessing she's getting from the seller-- has about every red flag phrase in the MLM book. It's honestly hard to tell which one you're looking at, because the language and promises are so similar.

Robyn wants people to think of her as a sage, wise guru, so I'm not surprised she buys into this stuff. Being able to stare at herself in a Zoom camera is probably an added bonus.

Speaking of, did she jack in the reiki entirely? That seemed to give her that attenshun buzz, once upon a time, but idr her mentioning it at all for ages. It was perfect for her cos nobody can 'prove' to her it's bullshit and she gets to be a pretend expert and a crunchy goddess all at once.

Robyn's obsession with money is such a departure from the values of someone truly spiritual, who believes that money and material things are low down in life's priorities.

She loves to portray herself as someone who is a wise enlightened Earth momma, when in reality she is a materialistic money grabbing MLM shill.

That course along with others is still available. They just don't bring enough money, aka no one's buying that shit.

I think we live in a time where there is a push to label absolutely everyone and everything, and to pathologize a lot of developmentally normal behaviors. This results in reasonable people seeing an excited kid flap his arms and think “autism!” rather than “he sure is excited about XYZ” . I certainly don’t fault anyone for thinking that when parenting spaces are full of scare articles about how not meeting rigid (and usually arbitrary, tbh) milestones means your child needs evaluation by a list of experts. Those experts, totally coincidentally of course, stand to gain financially by claiming a child needs any number of therapies and further evaluations. I see Atlas and I see a bored kid who gets way, way too much screen time and not enough time doing mentally stimulating things with his parents and other kids. Watching Robyn whip heavy cream too long and make butter is probably the most interesting thing he did all day, perhaps all week.

I could also be completely full of shit, and I fully accept that. Maybe poor Atlas is unfortunate enough to be autistic and have Globyn for parents.
For the record, I don't really disagree with any of this, and my motivation for mentioning it was certainly not a desire to label normal behaviors or having read "scare articles".
