The Eternals - marvel is trying it again this time less humor and hit music and more unnecessary love triangles

Salma may have spoiled Harry Styles being in the films end teaser which means that the reddit leak is true...fucking mess
Disney gave up on this film and probably everything in it if that Reddit leak is the final film after who knows how many rewrites and reshoots.

Her owl attacked him by coughing up on him lmao
But I'm not surprised bc she's unfortunately hypocrite. She is all charitable and "oh I is the poor Mexican girl"....when she's married to a billionaire who owns a fashion brand.

The final trailer is out.
So from what I got from here is that The Eternals are these ancient aliens that has another all power being (like how manyof those are there in marvel at this point?) that chooses whether they fight in conflicts or not for some reason. Also there's another universe ending threat, like how many of those have happened already? All of this feels tired and warned out. The MCU attempts to outdue and show something more dangerous and more powerful than Thanos have made things redundant and uninteresting. Phase four should have just been one or two movies that serves as an epilogue of where our heroes go from here kind of story after Endgame. The MCU could have ended as a high point but since marvel studios is an assembly line corporation that sees cinema as a perfected science with a mandated formula rather than as an art form we're stuck with movies like The Eternals until Disney goes bankrupt.

Sounds about right. If you wanted the idea done better, just read Jack Kirby's The New Gods.

Kumail Nanjiani has the most funny looking face I’ve ever seen. Him getting buff really has not changed anything at all.
Dude got buff and juiced up just to film maybe 2 scenes, the rest of it is all going to be CGI anyway

Makes me think why more ppl don't pull a Robert Pattinson and simply say "fuck it, i'm not doing that"

Ironically Warner Bros. killed The New Gods movie in April, setting back the cause of black female directors literally to 1620 or 1492 or something. (The Eternals was initially pitched as the MCU answer to it.)

The MCU has so much momentum behind it this train wreck would probably still have done $700 million pre-Coof times. I'll bet it meets expectations, this despite looking like a superhero movie scripted by wine aunts.

I think Winnie the Pink is going to prevent release in China, but we shall see. Zhao has said some anti-CCP things, IIRC.

Yeah, the lady who fucked up the "A Wrinkle in Time" movie along with one of the worst Batman writers in recent memory. Can't say I was too torn up when it got shitcanned.

If she must, she'll learn the ways of the Cena to please the proud chinese ppl and the rat overlords.

Soon enough she'll declare her love of bing qi ling

This entire movie feels like they should’ve just made this one of the D+ Shows - y’know, give them time to actually flesh out adding however the fuck many characters in one movie...

Seriously, does anyone give a single shit about The Eternals? Joe Average will probably go see it because its got Marvel slapped on it, but is there any actual word of mouth excitement beyond the standard astroturfing?

The way I see it, there are really two power scales/classifications that really work, especially for Marvel.

  1. Grounded/semi-grounded. 99% of Marvel heroes don't get their powers like DC characters, who are aliens from dying planets and statues given life and wizards named Shazam. They get their powers from radioactive spiders, inborn mutations, and power armor and the like.
  2. Ultra-mega-epic. Think Silver Surfer, Galactus, Doctor Strange, and Thor. Just going all out.
The Eternals aren't really in either of those categories. They're not grounded enough to seem sort of plausible, and they're not epic enough to be, well, epic.

Oh, and The Onion gets the scoop again... 3 years ago.

BURBANK, CA—Emphasizing that losing even just a few comic book fans would be a “fate worse than death,” Disney CEO Bob Iger admitted Monday that he and all his employees spend every waking moment consumed by the fear that you will one day turn on superhero movies. “Working at Disney? It’s hell. Because I know that one day, you’re all going to wake up and realize that you’re sick of this Marvel shit, and you’ll dump our sorry asses and never come back,” said Iger, adding that between the movies, theme park expansions, and television shows, Disney would go bankrupt almost instantaneously if consumer tastes changed even slightly. “Every day, my heart stops when I see the box office numbers. How many more of these goddamn Avengers films can we make before the well runs dry? Thirty? Fifty? The bottom line is that the number isn’t infinite, and frankly, that’s terrifying. No matter how many run-of-the-mill animated features we shit out after that, it would never cover the losses.” At press time, Iger confessed that while he had suffered a panic attack earlier in the day, he was feeling much more optimistic after green-lighting the screenplay for Thunderbolt Ross 2.

The red carpet premiere was earlier today. Haven't checked reactions but you just know they all will be positive day one and then hopefully everyone trashes it...because honestly this film is unnecessary
