Would it be appropriate to create a Random Thoughts & Questions thread like we have on the CWC board? Personally I never followed lawtube and though I've read the OPs and seen highlights of Rekieta's degeneration streams, there are still burning questions.

Namely, why do people like him at all? Why did many kiwis used to like him before the downfall? Best as I can tell is that his legal streams used to be good but mostly because he's le based conservative. I see that the past few months have been a series of high dramas for Rekieta, but I still struggle to see his appeal as a lolcow. He just comes off as a sad addict with weird sex stuff. Maybe it's just a matter of taste.

Back in the early lawstream days, Nick laid out some pretty good bantz. He used to be quick-witted and wickedly funny, and the whole lawstream format he developed made an otherwise boring trial more interesting to watch. Idk about the whole "our guy" conservative thing, it probably influenced some people, but wasn't a factor for me.

My dad used to like watching trials, and I used to watch them with him. We'd discuss the evidence, theorize on what really happened, make fun of the defendant and attorneys on both sides, and it was fun.

After my dad died back in 2012, trial watching lost quite a bit of its entertainment value, and I didn't know anybody else irl who was a trial-watcher. When Nick started the lawstreams, it was like getting a piece of that back, never the same, but still better than watching it alone and having nobody else to talk to about it. That's the reason I used to like Nick, ymmv.

I just feel bad for Nick. Just like Null starting streaming I was one of the first few hundred to watch him I want to say. I was happy he got big and successful my morals aligned with his especially regarding the 1st/2nd amendment. I'm no psychologist but, he human brain is not designed to receive this much praise and attention. You take a smart humble man and force all this down his throat he's going to lose his bearing very fast. Booze/ hard drugs / promiscuity. The worst part was he was rewarded so much for the substance abuse, not just the chemical reaction but the praise for self destruction.

I take no joy in seeing this Happen to Nick Rikieta and his family. The "crash" was going to happen sooner or later, he's alive his wife is alive and his kids are alive. I have met many men who's "crash" ended in death and not even there own. I'll stop my "AA meeting talk" now.

A whole lot of people who loved to pontificate over a whole lot of nothing.
And now they had the biggest lolcow event of the year (so far), so naturally the thread goes berserk.
Something definitely had to be done, and I guess we'll see how long this board is needed. New post-arrest arc is shaping up nicely so far.

it seems as though this isn't going to be done anytime soon, considering the level of nick's denial. we might even end up with a divorce arc, then he won't have much to lose if he loses his law license

Was not always that way. I am around Rekieta's age. Back in college I could have gotten a WASR10 for $250, I bought my Yugoslavian undercover for $300 in the early 2000s, got a polytech ak for $400 at the same time, Bulgarian AKs were around $375, Egyptian AKs were still around $500 and a brand new Russian Saiga (ak 47 or 74) I bought for $225 brand them new in the box.

So Rekeita could have had a lot of AKs if he got into guns early enough. Sadly he chose to date women and get married

Very rarely do I say we need a federal anything. But a federal CPS would be an interesting concept. Still as useless as (if not more) than state options, but might be good for situations where someone posts that they are neglecting their kid. That way it can get to the right agency. Still probably wouldn't work on big egg birb forum though.

I could feel bad for him if he would take some accountability. If he is going to keep pretending he did nothing wrong, that is contemptible.

Nick at this point is a top five, top three lolcow for sure. You could argue he is the #1 lolcow of recent times, after all he did actually win the title last year and at this rate he's a shoe in for this year.

I'm sorry, but that is not just a normal reaction to getting too successful too quickly. How many bloggers/Youtubers/influencers/etc. have attained massive fame and success and made millions off their Internet presence? Lots. How many have been busted with an ounce of coke while endangering and neglecting their kids? Nick is the only one I can think of! I'm sure there are a few others if you look, but it's actually not the typical way for Internet fame to play out, at all. A gazillion people have had their whole Internet "rise and fall" arcs without ever getting their door busted down and facing felony charges + jail time for having a small mountain of coke in the home with kids.

I don't know what you mean by rewarded for substance abuse/self destruction either. People have been making fun of his alcoholism for years at this point. The absolute most charitable interpretation you could give Nick is that his addictions destroyed what could've otherwise been a good life, and he was just good at keeping it hidden at first. It's obvious that he wasn't actually some big trad dad conservative Christian right up until the moment he got Internet fame, remember he is lifelong friends with Drexel the MGTOW BDSM groomer, and saw no problems with having Drexel on his stream to talk about buck-breaking his girlfriend's daughter that he knew as a minor the day she turned 18 and such.

It's also really obvious in hindsight that Nick's lolbert values, love of "constitutional rights" and such, is actually because he has a problem with authority and thinks he should be a sovereign citizen able to do whatever he wants. He's a libertarian because he wants to be free to snort coke and bang hookers without those gosh darn moral busybodies getting in the way.
