3, 8 & 10 flawed? Nah, is just your opinion. Those are pretty solid.
But saying 2 & 12 are bad is retard.
So do you think all Final Fantasy games except 13 are really good? I feel like the flaws of 2, 3, 8, 10, & 12 are known, but I'll explain myself.
2 has an overly simplistic story (it's basically Star Wars) and you grow stronger by repetitive actions, so it's optimal to just have your characters punch each other in the face over and over. It's maybe not as painful as 12 or 13, but it's one of the few FFs that when I played I just didn't enjoy at all.
3 is decent, but its story, classes, and combat get absolutely mogged by 5, which is basically just a better version of 3 in every way.
8 has an ultimately nonsensical plot and setting, the character relationships are absurdly written
Squall and Rinoa fall in love just because, they have absolutely no chemistry. And everyone was orphans together in the same orphanage being raised by Edea but everyone forgot except Irvine and he wouldn't tell people he couldn't kill the woman who raised them? Come the hell on, I've read better fanfiction, the GF system is a huge pain in the ass to shuffle around for how often it forces you to change up your party and the level scaling system in conjunction with the GF system makes it actually
worse to level up in FF8. Oh, and Triple Triad sucks ass.
10 actually has really solid combat mechanics, but the story choices and crappy dialogue/writing (though I'll confess that could be a translation thing) prevent me from enjoying it at every turn. Wakka (the best physical attacker in the game) fights things with a fucking ball. Sin destroys all technology except for the giant hi-tech zero-gravity blitzball arenas. The various mini-games to get the crests which you need for ultimate weapons are like pulling teeth. Every character acts like an FAS paint chip eating retard, and the setting makes no sense (people can just walk out of the afterlife and be normal? And most people just can't tell?). I'd love for 10's combat to be in a game that made sense.
12 is in the worst possible spot between a turn-based RPG and an action RPG. It's painful to play sped up or slowed down, and they literally added pointless unnecessary characters because they felt the writing of 12 being focused on actually cool, fantasy noble GoT style people wouldn't pull in the retards that attached to the series at 10. Also the License Board is somehow a worse Sphere Grid, which is quite the accomplishment. 12 is the opposite of my problem with 10; I would love to play 12's story in a game with better mechanics.
I'm not gonna say they're total garbage, but I would say that, out of ten stars, 1, 3, 8, 10, & 15 occupy the 5.0 to 7.5 range, depending on the game. 2, 12, & 13 are easily below 5.0. Conversely, 4, 5, 6, 7, & 9 are easily 8.5 to 10.0 territory.
