Yo Beetle Adventure Racing and the RUSH games were THE FUCKING TITS! Holy crap I still play them every few months on my N64. Such a good time, not even Cosmo can ruin them for me with how pathetic he is.

Nintendo is by no means perfect, but they've been generally consistent over decades. Square dropped off and never came back.

Sucks that some of your (and my) favorite series never got the sequels they deserve. But there are other great games to play.

@Marissa Moira Did you ever play California Speed? That one was my favorite one.

The age of Midway racing games will never come back. So sad!!

Also...yeah I just realized, they dropped the sector 7 upper plate supposedly where Shinra employees resided (not exactly sure how Shinra employees don't by and large reside anywhere else in Midgar but whatever) onto the slums. Freaking Shinra man.

Edit : ...wtf is this crap? God Square is going to do far worse to Aeris than Sephiroth ever could.


So either somehow, Sephiroth clones were a thing even when Aeris seven years old even though from what I understand Sephiroth (or rather the one from the original game at any rate) was about 5 years older than her or the people in black robes aren't clones of him....I honestly couldn't understand most of the above.

I dunno. A lot of low moderation sites are negative because negativity is easy to justify anyway. Not sure if it's representative. Technically my opinion is negative too ofc.

Yeah agreed. I mean half the posts in any thread on /v/ is going to be about how x game that they all bought and are all playing sucks. But it actually got pretty hard to find any defense of the story, which you think would at least make parts of 4chan back it simply to be contrarian.

Plenty of people like it, plenty of people are willing to walk through the gates of hell for it.

but the important thing is that trials of Mana did well and Nier Anniversery preorders are higher than Automata's.

This means Square now has other properties that people will buy other than Final Fantasy.

Maybe if CD Projekt Red delivers and Cyberpunk 2077 somehow manages to live up to all the hype and inspires a new revival of the WRPG genre, but I'm not holding my breath on that one.

I'm not going full doomer and thinking Cyberpunk 2077 will suck, but at the same time, I know a game that's been hyped up that much rarely ever lives up to it.

They were never clones of Sephiroth, that was a mistranslation. They were just dudes that had Jenova cells injected in them to try to duplicate what they got with Sephiroth after he went nuts and died in Nibelheim.

This is literally the only reason this game was confusing. Because of the word "clones." Especially as a kid where you think clones means exact copy while as an adult you can think about the confusion.

Gonna have to disagree with Rockstar. They always just get close to some amazing shit, but always stop just short. Like the GTA Online is 100% hindered by their microtransaction bullshit to such a degree it's insulting to the consumer.

I totally ignored the multiplayer. MTA was better and still is better than GTA online.

The single player is stellar, however.

I have a distinct suspicion that black people and Nixon's Chosen ruined Final Fantasy Remake.

Don't quote me on it. But I know it was them. Fucking nigggers...

The thing that gets me is they have this amazing engine, with tons of capability and just want to knee cap the fuck out of you every step of the way for microtransactions.

I really liked the FFVII Remake so far. Took em too long, but it was well done. If they make 1 or 2 more parts, it'd be fine by me. The first time through took me about 40 hours which is about 38 and a half more hours than it takes in the original.

Sounds like you like action combat over turn based then. As you said yourself action combat systems existed at the time and yet the FFVII original team choose turn based for it. That the new team didn't respect this choice shows how much respect they have for the original game and it's ideas. Instead we get cringe fan fiction made by Nomura.

I really love how pro-FFVIIretread fans just ignore that it wasn't the original team but are probably the same people who would go apeshit if Konami made another Metal Gear without Kojima.

Well that and the two most important cutscenes about the backstory are hidden in easily missable side content.
 
Man I wish we’ve gotten the same gameplay like the 1997 original but with 2020 graphics.

This is why we can’t have nice things.
