I've been playing through the FF4 remake on DS again, and honestly I'm a little sad they never did do 3D remakes of V and VI. Would have been really neat to see them get the remake treatment. I liked what they did with IV especially, adding new mechanics, having a new and improved translation, and revamping the difficulty. Hell, with how popular VI is (at least here in the West), it's kind of odd they haven't done a remake for that one.

I know that one guy on the development team wants to do a V remake, and if they do it'd be neat if it was like what they did with III and IV, chibi 3D and all.

If you're focusing on the story, you're focusing on the wrong things.

From level design to combat, to even the fucking gummyship missions KH3 was the most solid game out of the whole series.

If you want a story

I thought the story was badly paced but it actually worked as tying up the loose ends that the side games and such introduced. It's not as well done as KH2 but that's okay, nothing is perfect.

My beef with KH3 is more along the lines of:
- environments are still unreasonable limited in scope
- RPG elements like the gathering shit was not implemented to my satisfaction and felt like a throw it in
- Gummi ship sections were too short
- combat is way too easy even on hard difficulties. it was a big let down from KH2 which did a good job of combining difficulty along with the floaty combat. KH3 was simply too easy in comparison and it was just disappointing.
- I don't mind the attraction rides special attack but I think there was not enough variation in this sector
- graphics felt inconsistent, the Pirates world looked goddamn beautiful but it seemed to me that they didn't bring this level of graphics quality to the other areas
- Kingdom Hearts isn't about the NPCs but they were shockingly egregious in how they were implemented here, that little girl you rescue at the beginning of the Olympus level was a fucking joke. KH2 had good integration of NPCs as characters and parts of quests while in Twilight Town. KH3 was bafflingly stupid in this regard, why on earth did they regress like that?

So uh yeah the story was the least of my worries with Kingdom Hearts 3

Minus the attraction bullshit the game play was fun, and..once you got to saving Aqua things weren't bad. The problem with KH3 is that the worlds felt like a tacked on Checkbox as opposed to part of the story.

The worlds were implemented okay in that regard, its just that Organization XIII fucks things up storytelling wise as per usual

The problem I had with them is that they were always god damn available, I wanted them to go the fuck away after the first world because they triggered 4 times a battle.

How good is the enemy skill because I have all 4 of them? What builds are good with utilizing them?
I haven't touched remake because I don't hate myself enough, but in the Original.

Big Guard
White Wind
Trine
Beta
AquaLung

were the main ones you really wanted, the first one gave Shell/Protect/haste on the entire party, the second healed the entire party and healed status effects, the last 3 were spells between 2 and 3 in terms of cost and power didn't need all to hit everything and were lightning/fire/water elemental, but in general Blue Magic/Enemy Skill is usually either OP or completely useless depending on the exact mechanics (fuck you Kimari and Quistis for having it as limit breaks)

There's only 4 enemy skills in FF7R?
They're all from extremely high level enemies with Malboro being one of the hardest fights in the game. To get to malboro you have to fight a behemoth on hard in one of the arena VR quests. It's not easy, no items are allowed.

looking up the 4 skills, it looks like it would be good for a tank, or against an enemy weak to ice. Bad Breath is always powerful against non bosses, and if FF7R has "aggro management" skills the Spirit Siphon could be really powerful, a tank that can pop a big self heal in a pinch is more helpful than you could imagine in most MMOlite games.

This has just given me an absolutely terrifying thought. What if Hades is one of Chadley's battles instead of a random summon materia you come across? Imagine being wiped because he confused/poisoned/toaded/slowed your entire party with 100% success rate and there's nothing you can do about it.

You ever face Greater Malboros in FFX?

Did people generally thing the English or Japanese voices in the remake were better? I finally got around to starting it and was wondering which was a better experience.

enemy skill is the best materia in the original game; you never need any other materia if you have a few skills as @Honka Honka Burning Love mentioned. I'd add Magic Hammer to keep your MP up.

With a few enemy skill materia and a shit ton of purple support, you can crush everything in the game, including the weapons.

Hilariously, there was a combo that would let you basically AFK the weapons.

Cloud with Counter + Mime, and The Yellow "master" Materia with HP absorb, this would make Omni-Slash Drain HP and cause him to counter attack with Omni-Slash.

Even without master materia, 4x-cut would tear apart most anything in the final dungeon. Slash-all was really helpful too. Good use of command and support materia would mean that you could just hold down O in pretty much any battle.
