So I really want to like Bravely Default 2..but holy shit the Asterisk user fights are still miserable. I just beat the Thief and holy shit thank god that they are dumb enough to leave Asterisk users not immune to poison.

A level 20 Boss with 17K HP, super high speed because he is a Thief..and he automatically steals all your Brave Points/Bard Buffs. I really wish the Aggro system worked as intended too, it is a nifty idea that you can actually boost your tank's aggro..but the AI just says fuck that despite my MC having 88 aggro pre buffs and my healer having 33 and continually targeting her.

HAHAHAHA what the fuck is this shit. Berserker boss.

"Counters all elemental magic with party wide attacks that do double the damage of said magic"

Also "Normal Attacks for 1500 HP"
Takes 85 Damage from a limit break.

They have had 3 games to fucking get this shit right and they still can't make an Asterisk fights not fucking asinine.
I don't know how, but I've manage to fumble my way through the game only dying a handful of times and just reached chapter 5. So far I've really enjoyed it. Most asterisk fights so far have been pretty brutal. Each time after spending enough time getting demolished, I seem to have a mid battle epiphany about some ability I'd been ignoring or some weird synergy between my characters that turns the fight to my favor and I end up grinding it out. The berserker fight was pretty obnoxious, I eventually got him by bard buffing my party's defense and defanging him with my vanguard until the hits were tankable, then rigorous amounts of healing.

What Difficulty are you on? Legit I've just cheesed every Asterisk fight with Poison. It just took me a couple of tries on Berserker because the first one got fucked by him counter attacking ALL god damn direct damage magic, then I just had to tune the party to be able to handle shit like him going balls deep in the red and spamming the party wide attack.

Doing my first playthrough on normal. I can't even imagine playing on hard at this point. Like I said, I have a lot of close calls.

What a surprise! A Bravely Default game is lacking in polish and is half-baked.

If only we'd seen this coming. (:_(

The PS5 edition of Final Fantasy 7 remake is being released physically and it coming with all the DLC on it.

I may need to double dip if it's the case and it's actually on the disc itself and isn't a voucher like the Nier Automata GOTY edition.

But if I don't give them money how will we ever get Final Fantasy 8:Remake and Final Fantasy X 3?
Honestly FF8 Remake might actually improve shit since the Junction system was the Jankiest shit in a Final Fantasy and FFX-2 had legit good gameplay outside of the Bonus Dungeon's shit.

FF8 Remake would be an action RPG though, since that's all they seem to make anymore. A lot of the people who are old enough to have played the original FF8 are going to be too old for that now. Not that they will let that stop them. They would also milk it out over several titles. There is also the issue of whether they have enough good people to keep quality up in FF14, FF7R, and FF8R simultaneously. Although at least FF7R would keep Nomura busy away from FF8R.

I would be kind of Okay with that, again..FF8 had some really fucking Janky gameplay. Like reminder...the best strat in the game was stay low level as possible, Junction Curaga to Squalls HP and have him be be "in danger" and do the limit break spam, as well as "Learning more limit breaks for Zell actively made his limit break worse" and Rinoa's AFK god mode.

FF7 becoming an action RPG was kinda shit because the basic gameplay in 7 was good...it was not in 8.

It was. You had to dodge 200 bolts in a row for a celestial weapon part that turns out to be really underwhelming. It takes literally 15~20 minutes of not fucking up once straight. That sort of stuff definitely wouldn't fly in a more modern title, but I don't think anyone guessed it was a horrible idea back then.
That easily was one of the dumbest things to ever make a player go through especially once you learn that you can actually just create weapons as good or even better than the character celestial weapons (and yes, it is actually possible to do this).

As far as the FF8 remake discussion goes...well, lets just say I find it ironic that it seems that the FF7 remake series may tread on some of the themes and ideas of FF8 or even Chrono Cross which is one of the things that greatly annoys me about this series. Honestly, why do this when you could just remake FF8 or Chrono Cross?

I blame FFX for everything tbh. It was a charming enough game but it being a hit ensured all the wrong lessons would be taken from it.
They never gave us more girls like Rikku in any of the future games.

Just more gay boys like Tidus.

Because nobody wants to play Chrono Cross. That's NERD SHIT. People want to EXPERIENCE the legendary Final Fantasy VII remade faithfully for people that hate video games.

Man, all this talk of Chrono Cross brings back allot of memories from when I was a kid.

I played Chrono Cross right after Chrono Trigger when I was a kid. So the ending of Chrono Cross and the final boss floored me.

Chrono Cross has its faults, but it is still in my top JRPGs ever list.

Really never got the recognition it deserves.
