The best part is, even the Ivrit (Jewish script) is not originally Jewish but Persian/Syrian in origin.

I finished Bram Stoker's novel Dracula not too long ago. This book has to my mind a clear antisemitic subtext. The character of Dracula embodies many antisemitic tropes of the time. His background is placed on the boundary between east and west, not belonging to either. He has no life of his own, but "lives" by parasitically feeding on the blood of others. He hates Christianity and Christian symbols. He is a chameleon and a shapeshifter. He manipulates the legal and financial systems of European countries for his own ends. He preys mostly on young women. I counted several direct references to his "hooked" nose. The hordes of rats that follow him to England... Compare this to the themes and images of "The Eternal Jew" and "Jud Süss," and the resemblance is obvious.

Also, recently I was looking through an old book on phrenology, "Vaught's Practical Character Reader" (1902), because I find this sort of thing amusing. The illustrations are a hoot.

I interpreted it as a kind of spiritual or cultural degradation. Dracula's victims slowly lose their autonomy and are forced to "live" as he does, suspended between life and death. Pointedly, they are also cut off from the Christian sacraments and therefore salvation.

It's tempting to read it like that. I think it has connotations of sexual violence for sure. Some movie versions of the story especially play this up.
