Thanks, now I'm going to be paranoid for like 3 days that I'll come home and my house is on fire from ancient batteries.I was messing with some stuff on my bookshelf near my computer when I consciously noticed a sound that was like radio static and stopped to figure out what it was and where it was coming from. After some searching and shoving my head into a couple shelves, I found out the noise was coming from an old pack of AAA batteries that were sitting there. So that's how just found out within the last hour that batteries can make high-pitch hissing and crackling noises when they're failing and possibly about to leak or catch fire.
