For a year or two I've been cognizant of how ironic use of tone and words easily becomes one's regular speech, so I've been switching from casual banter to ironic formality and politeness. It's funny and casual, but at the same time just plain nice. Same when some thing or circumstance is obviously bad and unpleasant - jokingly referring to it as something very nice rather than something exaggeratedly bad makes everyone involved feel better, even if both are equally funny and ironic.

I don’t even drink nor smoke, yet I still managed to get a bad headache after avoiding trying to smell fumes of cigarette smoke and possible alcohol smell.

Short story of the matter is that I’m questioning whether I’m cut out from attending parties in the near future.
