I've noticed SATA is a lot less forgiving of that sort of thing than EIDE was. EIDE was pretty good at staying put, to the point where you had to be careful about disconnecting the cable lest you pull apart the cable's connector.

I had the same problem once, except my SATA cable was just on its way out.

Thank goodness for SATA anyway. Back in the PS2 days where I had to plug in IDE hard drives to my desktop to load Japanese PS2 games on them for HDLoader, I managed to kill one 200gb HDD by unplugging the molex power cable before it had fully discharged. One spark and that drive was dead.

And that was at a time when 200gb HDDs were still like $100.

I think I need to start actively taking a break from lolcows. I wonder if I have some sort of OCD-like thing where anything with a shread of far-left spergery causes me to go into a fit of thinking about it constantly. What's your guys' favorite hobbies outside of following lolcows? I need some new ones.

Video games, cooking, mixology, reading, hitting the town when there's something interesting to do, gardening and fitness (kind of)
 
I always go up and down stairs 2 at a time. Sometimes I do it sideways just because I can.
 
Just finished a bunch of alien UFO shit on Netflix, and now Bob Lazar is going to be on Joe Rogan in a day. Lord almighty it's gonna be weird. DMT and aliens, but also the biggest alien whistleblower alive.
