That's the irony of the older generation. They can't quite fathom these things outside of personal terms, but then they had never had anything quite like this in their youths before the net.

I had stopped browsing here some months ago for...idk, no particular reason. Something recently sparked my curiosity and here I am remembering why I liked this site so much. Probably still gonna be fairly passive in regards to making posts but this place is still nice.
 
If I ever lose my livelihood and have to live in a cardboard box, and folks ask me why I live in the box, I'll say it's because I identify as mail. And if I meet any pretty girls along the way, I'll ask if they want to ship me.

Yup, having to explain to my mom exactly what "anonymous" is and how come all the "we are legion" stuff is cringe was fascinating to her. Then again, she'd probably be an internet shitlord if she were born in the 80's, too.

I bet. My folks were born in the 40's, so their world was shaped by rock 'n roll, Vietnam and all that came about in their lifetimes. My dad is so computer illiterate, I have to pay his bills online for him these days since he has a hard time following instructions.
