The General Thread

So, I'm off trying to get a CDL.

I thought I'd have at least a little leg-up knowing how to drive stick/standard transmission beforehand.

Semi-truck 10 speeds with non-synchronized gears are their own animal completely. Double-clutching is required.

I was suitably embarrassed at my first performance. But I at least did not stall out.

Here's a little autistic hobby of mine, FM DXing. Somehow RAI Radio1 Puglia from the Monte Sambuco transmitter about 426 km away came in with both RDS and Radiotext, and I didn't go full out autistic and connect an FM yagi antenna to the headphone jack. I just used my headphones. Other RAI Radio programs from that transmitter that weren't stomped by another Italian or local Croatian radio also came in decently, considering my setup. Taking a look at this map, it's not surprising.

Better than me at least. I love playing trucking simulators, but I can never get the hang of backing the trailer from inside the cab. That and I'm a filthy casual who mostly plays in automatic.

Trucking Simulator 2021 has some amazing graphics, check it out! It also has a force-feedback joystick for missed shifts!

Backing is tough enough in normal cars, and normal cars with trailers, but it was the one thing I did right on the first try (12 years driving tow truck helped with backing up, you're always backing into cars to pick them up, or backing them into spaces to drop them off) Even the instructor said "You've done this before"

There are four what are called "docking" exercises you have to do to pass the road test, where they lay out a series of orange cones and white stripes on the ground and you have to back a trailer into them, with a set number of times you can touch a cone or cross a line before you fail. So they ARE going to test you.

Your hobby sounds more fun than mine, I like people who dig into data like that.

My hobby is convincing myself not to kill myself every day and I'm still here, so I guess I'm pretty good at it, lol.

lol...

Yesterday's 10:30-11 pm local time reception of FM radio from Monte Sambuco was the best one yet in my few years of doing FM DXing. Now I would share the audio recordings to demonstrate the reception quality, but this forum has a very niggerlicious feature of not supporting m4a attachments. Guess I'll transfer the recordings from my phone and change the extension to mp4. Anyways, this time RDS with radiotext came in easily, though sadly it would appear that Monte Sambuco doesn't transmit the RAI Regione radiotext info, which would add further credibility. That's also pretty niggerlicious on RAI's part. Unfortuantely, I don't have some UHF yagi antenna as long as my dick and a USB DVB-T2 tuner to try out TV reception, but since tropo seems to benefit higher frequencies, it was probably very much possible to get a stable DVB-T signal. If this was June of 2012, I am sure that people with old TVs with the antennas pointed in the right direction, would have had at least 3 analog TV channels to watch.
Edit: I also forgot to mention that I took a look at 7055 KHz LSB on websdr, after probably a 1-2 year long hiatus from websdr, and I had something to listen, definitely.

I'm fucking sick of YouTubers streaming. I s2g if someone else like SimplyNailogical (who started streaming and hasn't posted an edited video in over a month) starts this shit I'm gonna scream.

>A Black Israelite wants to join the 2nd SS Panzer division.
>Obersturmführer asks why a Negro would want to join a National Socialist armored division even though they don't accept colored folk.
>Black Israelite points at his unit insignia and goes:
>DAAAAS REIIICH.

>Obersturmführer transfers him to a Waffen-SS battalion instead.

I've always wondered if Chris Kyle (the Navy Seal Sniper) was a lolcow. Because honestly he shares the same personality traits that a lolcow would have. Like for example the Hurricane Katrina claims that he made about shooting looters, and his boastful and frankly large ego would've made him a target of ridicule if he were alive today.

if it weren't for book deals, Navy Seals would have no functional use to society outside of about 20 combined seconds of meaningful trigger time on mission...... I'm just' sayin'

Has anyone ever had one of these lamps? Our family never had one, but a neighbor up the street did. I thought it was the coolest lamp ever - still do. I bought one for my apartment when I was all grown up. My mother came to visit me.. walked in and immediately saw it. She turned to look at me and said: "you're a grown up and can spend your money any way you want...." Which is "momspeak' for: "I am disappointed in you but I still love you"
