The Ghostbusters Thread (Old, New, Animated, Whatever)

So at least one good thing came out of that abortion.
it was going to be his directorial debut with his father john as a producer. i know his writing track record isn't very good but it's better than Fieg's. The story would have essentially been the Ghostbusters despite being insanely popular with everything from tv shows to merch (much like in real life) were on the verge of bankruptcy because of their habit of frivolously wasting money.

This is Max Landis' treatment for his Ghostbusters if anyone's interested

I know Landis is a bit cringey, but his treatment at least sounds better than what we got from Paul Feig.

Sometimes I wonder if this isn't just a cynical ploy by studios to try and coax old fans to consoom to "own da libruls".
I wouldn't put it past them, it would get people thinking that going to see it to give it a big box office would be a giant middle fingers to the sjw crowd.

My tinfoil theory on Fandom Menace idiots like Doomcock are basically this yeah.

As for my thoughts; I'm thinking the movie is looking more likely to be okay, but I'm still worried that it's just going to be a Stranger Things clone that does a fuckload of memberberries of the original film.

I watched Ghostbusters II for the first time in a very long time. I really liked it, despite its flaws.

I noticed recently that I've been enjoying "bad" 80s-90s movies a lot more than the supposed "good" movies of today. I totally tapped out of superhero flicks three or four years ago. I did watch that Avengers Endgame stuff and I was bored out of my skull.

Doug Walker got the chance to preview it.

Ghostbusters II is also non-canon now? I don't like the sound of that. Not that I was in love with that movie, but are they saying that the Ghosbusters only had one adventure?

I still honestly don't get Ghostbusters II's bum rep, even to this day. It's obviously not as good as as the first, but it's still a pretty good sequel. Just discrediting the second one altogether and writing the first one off as its sole adventure just doesn't seem enough.

I'm actually pretty excited for this considering jason reitman's history of more serious films like juno, since the whole thing with the first ghostbusters was it was comedic thrown against the horror movie setting
