The Ghostbusters Thread (Old, New, Animated, Whatever)

I mean dude could just not see the movie like a grown ass adult. His whole "But it doesn't look like MY Ghostbusters" argument is pretty silly too. Accept the movie isn't made/doesn't appeal to you and move on. Again act like a grown ass man.
Its pretty understandable , imo. James had always been a huge fan of Ghostbusters, and his fans have been constantly messaging him about his thoughts on this new one. He gave a brief video on his thoughts; I think he would have been fine moving on as he isn't one for drama, its just that people on twitter had a freakout over those thoughts.

I found the article from the third screen cap.

Archive.
It's arguably libel, because it flat out misrepresents Rolfe as some sort of raging sexist.
That is one of the most poorly-written, badly-argued, dishonest piece of journalism I've ever seen. I hope the author was just grasping at straws because they needed to crank out an article before a deadline, because that's just a disgrace. I can't believe James Rolfe is being made a pariah for not watching a film.

Welcome to internet journalism, it has always been like that.

Here's another thing to consider about Rolfe and the new movie: even if he were to review it, he'd have been in a total Kobayashi Maru situation: If he doesn't like the movie, he'd be labeled a misogynist MRA neckbeard shitlord by the far left internet journos and dangerhairs. If he did end up liking the movie, he'd be called a beta cuck numale blue pilled shitlord by the people who've had a hate boner for this movie since the first announcement.

Maybe he should've just kept quiet about the whole thing, maybe not. But no matter what stance he takes and/or has taken, he's fucked either way.

Not really. He doesn't do something he doesn't want to, and a bunch of shrieking harpies make themselves look like fucking fools white knighting a huge failure.

Okay I admit, the last part with the black one and the ghost on her shoulders made me chuckle a bit.
But yeah, still doesn't look promising.
I am not even bothering trying to compare whatever this is going to be with the first two movies at all. What I would compare it though is the cartoon. Cause the ghosts look really cartoonish. Like, Scooby Doo level.

Wow, you can see both the laziness and cynicism behind the movie in both trailers. Actually, RedLetterMedia did a decent evaluation of this movie, without even meaning to.

I mean, it apes the opening from the first one, turns the black chick into a mammy version of Winston Zedmore, recycled both a Rick Moranis and the whole Gozerian Cult Building element, and the amplifying machine and "ghosts ain't real lol" from 2. I can tell there is no comedic freedom or independence from the Producer. They fail to get that the OG movie was a blend of supernatural, comedy, and a wee bit of horror to boot.

They aped so fucking much that the original script writers should get a credit too.

The original movie was as good as it was because of the very specific ensemble cast, their chemistry together, and the near-constant ad-libbing by the cast. The script was mostly a suggestion, with Murray and others continually improvising. Just ripping that off and repeating it will inevitably lead to a pale, lifeless imitation.

The cast can't be blamed for this. They had the looks of a group that could have been a fine ensemble cast. In some other movie that isn't this one.
