there is a fan edit floating around out there called Godzilla Resurrection that combines a lot of 1985 with Return of Godzilla. It does cut out a lot of the goofier comedic and product placement stuff of 85 which was a smart move to try to make the "best" version of both movies. I'm not sure that it really replaces either film but it is a super interesting project and worth watching. It's mainly the subtitled original besides when it's the American stuff from 85. In any case the movie is one that I didn't really appreciate enough as a kid because I was disappointed it's just Godzilla and he wasn't fighting another monster but as I've gotten older I actually think a lot of it is more impressive than most of it's sequels.

The Godzilla vs. movies are fun, but the original is the best for a reason.
Any sequel that tries to match it are, in my opinion, the better films.
My favorites are Original > Return > Shin, and I'll probably slot in -1.0 ahead of Shin when I see it.
Just Godzilla making his existence everyone's problem is what I'm here for.

Lol in the new episode of Monarch there was an incredibly forced lesbian kiss between Cate and another woman, it's kind of funny though because a few scenes later we see Cate cheating on that woman with another woman.

Scrappy young MAN who was just too young for the war and wants to fight for his country like the other MEN did. The only three female characters in the entire damn movie exist to 1) remind the MEN that they are MEN and should act like MEN (Sumiko), and 2) give the MEN something to protect and fight for (Noriko, Akiko). There's approximately 0.0% DEI goyslop messaging it's so damn refreshing

Its funny as fuck all the ESG that has to shoe horned in to get around that the real stars of the show are Kurt Russel and his son (and Ders, but we don't get enough Ders). An asian lesbian that cheats in San Fran? Yeah, sure, but its still came out of left field and added nothing to the story then "I'm sadddddddddd and a bad person".

Smog Monster is pretty cool, especially the The Smog Monster dub so you get SAAAVE THE EARTH
Also it's one of the few of the monster wrasslin style movies where they address a threat to humanity through a monster, and it's very graphic about people dying when they are killed

Is this actual pathos? In the year of our Lord 2023? No Whedon-esque quips? No midwit Los Angelean banter? No Filonian lectures on how the good guys are really the bad guys?

This was just a good movie. It wasn't an anti-woke movie. Just good old fashioned Man versus monster as the main plot, accompanied by a survivor's guilt subplot, and a redemption arc.

It feels good to walk out of a movie theater not having to wash the taste of goyslop out of my mouth.

P.S. Captain shitting on the government before and after they tried to cover-up the existence of Godzilla? 100% based, red-pilled, mah nigga.

Whenever minus one information started actually coming out and it wasn't rumored I went on wikizilla for the first time in my life mainly to click on any cited articles or whatever to avoid reddit. while I was on there I got sidetracked by reading basically every article about unmade movies, and used their little bottom of the page thing to check out and download to fill out my digital collection of any of the kaiju movies on there I'd never seen/figure out what title I had some of them under I didn't know. I literally spilled beer on my keyboard and ruined it from viscerally being like what the fuck and laughing my ass off when I saw in the fan film section one of them was a trans Godzilla movie. I had never in my life looked at Godzilla fan discourse except once previously on reddit but it was just monsterverse sperging. my only exposure to godzilla fans was like my dad who's a 50 year old asian guy, and dudes I still am friends with I grew up with watching the movies and playing the ps2 game with seriously as children and then doing those same things drunk and high yelling FUCK YEAH GODZILLA and shit with as teenagers and adults. So then I started reading the comments and the western Godzilla fandom online is horrific it's all people who are literally retarded, fags, or actual children. those comment sections are hilarious for that reason and sometime link to Twitter posts that are even worse lots of mothra x godzilla furry shit.

It might have my favorite of the early dubs because of that retarded song. but yeah overall the movie is just a super interesting and stand out movie in the series for some of the unique shit it tries. If nothing else it was ambitious. I wouldn't necessarily say its one of the better ones but definitely a favorite.
 
So I was right all along without even seeing it. All these fucking normies calling it the greatest movie ever made were wrong. In 2023, a movie that’s just a good movie is considered a masterpiece. Fucking wild.
