Criterion's honestly been hitting it out of the park lately. I love when they embrace the more "lowbrow" cinema instead of the artflicks everyone associates them with. They did a release of The Heroic Trio/Executioners about a year ago Maggie Cheung, Anita Mui, and Michelle Yeoh about a year ago. I was happy so many film snobs were pissed they included The Breakfast Club in the collection.
They're really more of a company celebrating film in general more than the hipster dvd company people think at first.
But I'm honestly fine with them releasing each heisei film on their own at first. These films haven't ever had great singular releases in the states so it will be nice to eventually acquire each of them if that's the route they go down.
It's an Alamo Drafthouse so I don't know. It did say the print came from a college but there weren't any other details on the page. I already bought I ticket because I knew they'd sell fast. Just didn't know if it was a wise move.
