Come on, Criterion: Gimme a Heisei Era boxed set. I would buy that sucker so fast.

Also, it's cool that Godzilla vs. Biollante is finally getting another physical release in the States. The licensing of this movie has always been weird and confusing.

If I didn't have to miss work, probably.
Especially if it was really off a 35mm print.

If it was a "event" digital showing I'd skip it our of concerns I would get one of those Fathom dvd-vision shit shows. I get really pissy about those with a drive up the road.
I'd probably fedpost the theater management if I drove four hours and got that.

Criterion's honestly been hitting it out of the park lately. I love when they embrace the more "lowbrow" cinema instead of the artflicks everyone associates them with. They did a release of The Heroic Trio/Executioners about a year ago Maggie Cheung, Anita Mui, and Michelle Yeoh about a year ago. I was happy so many film snobs were pissed they included The Breakfast Club in the collection.
They're really more of a company celebrating film in general more than the hipster dvd company people think at first.

But I'm honestly fine with them releasing each heisei film on their own at first. These films haven't ever had great singular releases in the states so it will be nice to eventually acquire each of them if that's the route they go down.

It's an Alamo Drafthouse so I don't know. It did say the print came from a college but there weren't any other details on the page. I already bought I ticket because I knew they'd sell fast. Just didn't know if it was a wise move.

It's an Alamo Drafthouse so I don't know. It did say the print came from a college but there weren't any other details on the page. I already bought I ticket because I knew they'd sell fast. Just didn't know if it was a wise move.

if they bother to cite any sort of lineage I'd assume there's some tismos that would roast them bigly if there was some funk

It seems like a totally reasonable thing to do to me. That's the whole problem with the internet, you're gonna get mental cases like me normalizing your problem behavior.

I actually decided to be the autist in this case and ask ahead of time if it was really a 35mm print and they let me know it will be in a room that's digital projection and they took the 35mm advert off the page it was listed and apologized.

I think I'll skip it. Sounds fun. But I should be saving money right now and honestly I'd rather go with a couple other Godzilla fans to something like this. There will be more like it in the future.
Unironically thank you guys for bringing that point up.

I don't have much hope for GVK 3 and they're probably going to waste Sam Neill somehow. Really the only time the cast felt somewhat likeable and utilized was in KSI. But they didn't need Brie Larson and Tom Hiddlestons character should've been one of their soldiers instead of some generic mercenary who "knows jungles." The soldiers already fought in Vietnam they know jungles, wildlife and traps. They also need to completely dispense of the comic relief like the fat black guy or other adjacent characters.
