Gotta admit, I was excited at first looking for Near's dox, now I'm kinda burnt out and feeling like I'm getting nowhere searching thru old forums. (Could be I'm just retarded)

I signed up for a burner account at nesdev.com to look through his posts there, and there's so fucking many that my eyes started to glaze over. I stopped at page 68 of 104 if someone is enough of a masochist to take up where I left off sifting through technobabble:

Of those, I really only found two things I found funny/noteworthy. One is Byuu cringeposting about politics in 2006 and the other is Byuu showing that he's not just a weaboo but an eastaboo in general talking about wanting to go to China and studying Mandarin.

The only other potential lead I have is Byuu's profile on the zsnes forums. Although, I can't figure out a way to look at any of his posts, either the snapshot the zsnes boards won't let me view them, or they're not archived on some snapshots. I'm tired and I don't really want to sift through snapshots of the zsnes forums, but if someone more savy with the waybackmachine can find them that would be awesome.

Another interesting tidbit, on the latest snapshot of the zsnes forums Byuu's profile cannot be viewed at all. Make of that what you will.


So what I've learned going through all of this shit is that 1. Byuu is very, very autistic. The amount of nitpicking and technojargon shit he spews on just the nesdev forums makes my head spin. 2. He's also a democratic socialist/liberal-minded person, and this seems to be fairly consistent throughout his time online that I've found. 3. Byuu is a massive eastaboo/weeb. He has spent numerous years trying to learn Japanese and Mandarin, and all of his online identities are cringe weebshit and his profile pics are from anime.
Adding all of this together it makes sense that he is a janny tranny.

But what doesn't make sense to me and what really grinds my gears is that it feels like his dox, knowing the real Byuu, is just out of reach, at least for me. I want to know who this fucker is, not because of some gay vendetta of him sending an army troons and scriptkiddies to the forums, but because I'm genuinely interested in what drives someone to do this sort of cringe and gay mastermind bullshit.

That may be a possibility. Nintendo is never going to tolerate anything that threatens their IPs and consoles, even if they're out of production. And since Byuu is the sole owner of Higan, then it'll lead to two scenarios.
1) If he's alive, then he'll have no choice other than to go to court with Nintendo, which will expose him as alive and the suicide a hoax.
2) If he's dead, then Higan will fall into obscurity and the Twitter mental patients will have nothing to fawn over. Especially since there's a LOT more SNES emulators to try out.

You should probably make the timezones clear because without them it's even more confusing.

I'm not sure how else we can find Byuu. We know who he is, what he looks like and where he used to live.
If he actually is in Japan, then he won't show up on voting registries. It seems there's a couple of people called Ginder who are famous so "ギンダー" seems to be how Ginder is written in Japanese and so I'd assume he'd be "デビッドギンダー", and he allegedly lives in on the 14th floor of an apartment building with a balcony in the Arakawa ward of Tokyo, working for a Japanese company where he reverse engineers hardware. But I don't know if he'd be listed in the Tokyo version of the Yellow Pages, if at all - I believe it's more common for Japanese companies to pay for rent and utilities of foreign workers as part of their salary, so there's not necessarily going to be anything linking him to any specific address.

This timeline is such a fucking mess because of that google doc that it was really hard to put this together.

EDIT: I got the most important timestamps wrong! Oops. Originally I had placed the "anonymous friend" in UTC-05 because I was two hours off (partly for not taking DST into account), but putting the time in accurately actually makes the timeline make less sense.
If the anon caller had gotten the phone call at 11:45, it could only realistically be 11:45 AM in Japan. The most likely culprit of "anonymous caller" is Hector himself, as he's the only known associate of Byuu's who also lives in Japan, unless there are other IRL friends he had there (which he admitted to Null he didn't have in his suicide email chain)
