I've seen multiple people point out that the phone number on the Higan business card is a Columbus, Ohio area code, but I would like to remind people that area codes mean jack diddly squat. Even businesses don't necessarily have local area codes anymore. While working as support for a carrier, I mainly helped with business accounts and most people I spoke to cared more about the last 7 numbers than the first 3. If they could get J-O-E-G-O-O-D, or something easy to memorize like 2468, they didn't care if the area code was in Bucksnort, Tennessee (real town, by the way). Sometimes, people take hours to decide and after a certain point, it's best to tell them what numbers are available right this second, but remind them that these numbers could be chosen manually or automatically assigned.

For what it's worth, most people I spoke to about number assignment were small business owners. I guarantee they were being overly spastic about their numbers for their business that would never make it past 5 years.

It's interesting to see the double standard play out. When the Aimee Challenor stuff was going down, the Wikipedia talk page (archive) was full of a back and forth of "reddit posts aren't sources", "reddit announcements aren't sources", "The Daily Mail isn't a source", "Ok that newspaper is a source, but it's merely citing the reddit post which isn't a source" etc.
Thankfully their over-reliance on citing policy eventually meant the full story got added.
