Nah, not really. Sigma males are the types that don't give a fuck about alpha or beta. They don't really fit in to the pecking order, which might be a good or bad thing depending. They are situational Alphas in many regards, but don't mind being beta when there's a half-decent Alpha to follow, else they just plow their own furrough.
Alphas respect them because they see them as distinct from the pack (betas, gammas), but not always, and depending. But it's not unusual for a Sigma to throw an Alpha off-track and unbalance him if games are being played. When the Alpha finds out that the Sigma isn't really in to playing games, he can take him as he finds him, and he'll often trust an up-front Sigma before a back-biting beta.
But in a way they can be seen as the 'too cool for school' kind of individual types who don't partake in that kind of game at all, oh no, it's below them. Then you know you are dealing with a false Sigma such as Vox would be to give one quick example. No one likes admitting they are beta, but not many can bluff they are Alpha. So Sigma is a good holdout/hangout for the oddballs that others can't get a handle on quickly.
Pretty soon all becomes known though, and everyone knows who is top dog. Of course, again, this is all mostly 90 percent situational. But the fun I had hanging around those MRA places watching the spergs battle on about the taxonomy and etymology of all this was like a proto-type KF. Alas, I never knew this place existed back then in [current year].
Clue: if you have to ask 'Is this beta?', then you probably are a beta.
Clue 2: if you spend your time talking about this at all, then you probably aren't Alpha.
Doh.
Personally, I'm a Sigma yah!
