You'd think the suicide of a 外国人 would be somewhat newsworthy, no? But try as I might, I can't find anything in Japanese on this. I've searched 「ギンダー」、「アメリカ人 自殺」、「荒川区 自殺」. But nothing. Also looked for English results in expat websites like Gaijinpot and JapanToday. Also nothing. You'd think there'd be some kind of chatter or something about this coming from Japan besides anonymous Twitter and KF accounts saying "He totally super seriously killed himself, trust me, I saw the body." Any time a non-citizen dies on foreign soil, it's usually some kind of news, right? Any thoughts on that?
There's one possible explanation for this. It's that the dude is still alive. Just saying. That's the most likely explanation.

Congratulations KiwiFarms..

Okay, giving you the benefit of the doubt for a moment.

I've looked through you post history. You said you worked with Ginder and knew him personally. At what company did you work with him?

Will you show your face? You've shown us what is apparently your real name, but searching for it plus "Japan" doesn't bring up any likely LinkedIn profiles or anything. Are you willing to prove your own identity as well?

Can you provide any third-party news articles in the press confirming Ginder's death by that name (not as byuu/Near)?

If your story is true, you have the chance to really stick it to us Farmers not buying the story of his suicide. Please take that opportunity.

And why the fuck would THEY have the urn? Some barely work acquaintance from years ago...

But again it's weird to get an urn of that cheap quality if you supposedly care about the person a lot.

If the ashes are destined to be shipped overseas to the next of kin, maybe the usual practice is to just use a fairly basic urn, with the expectation that the receiving funeral home will transfer them into a fancier receptacle?

You'd think if someone was going to get an urn from overseas, it'd be family members, who wouldn't be posting post mortem selfies online for gotcha points, not a fucking "coworker"

What are even the odds his family knows the bullshit he's been up to in his online life? My guess is damn low.

oh boy. how much of this is going to be bitching about Kiwi Farms? a half hour? 45 minutes?

Gotta give props to byuu for being a sperg and maintaining good opsec. He's made some slips but overall great job. 👍
I think he was in Japan, there are websites that crawl obituaries across the US and make them pretty easy to find so if he decided to die here he'd have been found long ago, not to mention it'd likely make some local headlines which would then be used in national news articles.

There are just too many issues surrounding his apparent suicide as well as those who claim to be friends of his who try to verify the claims but only make it less likely he did the deed. Even people within the emulation community are still going "did he tho?"

since @torvalds can't quote his own post here's the linked post
He posted part of a plane ticket and a zairyuu card, that's about it.
