What's everyone's fav potato recipes/foods?

I basically love all things potato but I especially enjoy a simple potato salad: just vinegar and oil, a bit of broth (veg or meat), a bit of finely chopped onions and some parsley or chives; mashed potatoes or fries.

This is torment. It really depends what you are having with it what's the best. I'm partial to taking mini yukon golds smashing them open drizzling in olive oil and sea salt then "oven frying" them. Work with so many dishes, get that crisp skin little mushy baked inside best of both worlds.

It's very hard to mess up potatoes because almost anything done to them they come out pretty rad

Baked potatoes, meaning actually baked, with a crispy, papery skin. Microwaving potatoes creates pure dog food.

Local specialty in SoCal: Carne asada fries.

Look at that. Bask in its meaty glory.

It's got relatives, too. It's brother in upstate New York is the Nick Tahou Garbage Plate, with hamburger patties and sausages. It's loving father is Montreal poutine, with gravy and cheese curds. In Europe, it has a cousin in Ireland (where else?) called the spice bag, with chicken strips, peppers, and Asian spices, another cousin in Scotland called the munchy box (which has everything from pizza to doner kebab meat), an uncle in the Netherlands called the kapsalon (with shawarma and gouda cheese. It's name translates as "hair salon", because it was invented by a hairdresser), and a distant cousin once removed in Australia...the Halal snack pack.

My brother used to make this really kick-ass potato soup. Never learned what made it special.

Otherwise I'm really fond of potatoes au gratin, but potatoes are just really fucking good in a lot of ways.

Baked Potato

Step 1:
Put Xbox 360 in oven

Step 2:
Use favorite settings (not graphics settings, because consoles don't have those).

Step 3:???

Step 4: Profit (and PCMR meme material).
PC à la mode:
Step 1. Set oven to 375° F
Step 2. Place $3000 on centre rack
Step 3. ???
Step 4. Repeat every 2-3 years.

Don't forget to remind people how superior your meal is for the 3 months it is until something better comes along and you have to make yet another one.

9/10 nice meme. Would be 10/10 if it was more accurate.

I haven't baked a potato in ages now that I think about it.
I'd usually do them by rubbing them down with olive oil, salt, pepper, etc and baking. Wonder how butter would work instead of olive oil.

Yukon Gold is the superior potato. Homefries with cheese and onions with a side of scrambled eggs is the best thing ever. Mashed potatoes, stews, cold potato salad, it's all great.
