The Hyperdimension Neptunia fandom - Which videogame console is your waifu: Autism Edition

Yeah, whatever your opinions on the series may be, it has become a baptism of autism much like Undertale or My Little Pony. If they're worried Chris' exceptionalism will increase negative scrutiny on the fandom, two things.

1) No shit. Chris ruins whatever pool he steps in.
2) It's not like he's the only one ruining it for everyone else.
Introduce Chris to Nier.

I hope you all have a strong gag reflex, cause it's time for MORE of the man, the myth, the sick fuck u/iwannafuckrom:

I don't even know if Neptunia is a good GAME. Alls I ever read when it comes to reviews is waifu shit. Does anyone ever talk about the game?

Of course not, it's just Touhou with a smaller fanbase. It's got a cult around it but ultimately the source material is a shitty game nobody's even played.
Same for MLP except nobody watches the show. You get the picture.

Neptunia games range from mediocre to terrible. In general they aren't very good. The gameplay is boring, repetitive, lazily made, and could put Greenpeace to shame with how much they recycle assets. Anyone who likes it is in it for the waifus and/or the memes, because it's a shitty series otherwise. The absolute worst it has to offer are spinoffs like this. It's a worthless visual novel masquerading as a game and even Neptunia autists refuse to play it.

I had a discussion with @BOLDYSPICY! about this series earlier, specifically because of Chris' descent into madness.

By and large, it's a funny weeb series with gay robots, fucking amazing writing, and is generally a fun and stupid game series that doesn't take itself or anything else particularly seriously. It's the sort of bouncing anarchic romp that is a gigantic roast of both itself and video games and anime in general. The big selling point is the humor and writing; the games are usually pretty average at best. Some are purportedly pretty awful, but the one I played seemed generally all-right. Certainly not JPATG fare.

But the fandom... Good god the fandom, Kiwis.

Undertale's fandom and Steven Universe are slightly less disturbing than Neptunia's. Because while Neptunia's fanbase is, on balance, less Autistic than Undertale or SU, it has a fucking constant presence of fucking pedos because a few of the characters are basically underaged. While this is something every Fandom has, it's rarely as up-front or obnoxious as Neptunia's. Boil everything down and Neptunia's fandom winds up worse than either.

Fucking annoying, too, because the series, by all accounts, is fucking hilarious and I'd like nothing further to do with it based on the Autism of its fanbase alone.

I concur. The games are great writing wise, but it is always best to avoid the fandom.

it's the only popular series i can think of that reuses levels, art, and enemies over several games
you really have to be obsessed with these characters to play essentially the same game + or - a game mechanic over and over just for more writing

There's like a dozen franchises I've seen re-use assets and get away with it nowadays. Neptunia's just the most obvious weeb game doing it.
