IMDB is a database first and foremost. I don't think anyone goes there with the intention of discussing movies or media.

Then the least they could do is get rid of the ratings, reviews, forums, and comments sections of the site and make it more educational, like it was meant to be - that would make this site useful and reliable again, at least IMHO. Too bad that'll never happen (what I'm suggesting, that is...).

To be honest I just go there to read trivia. :|

I can live with that... As long as it teaches you something about the movie, instead of stupid complaints that act like they are FACTS, when they aren't.

Here's a strange user, named bhikkhu

http://www.imdb.com/user/ur5415129/

All of this user's posts are tirades against Mel Gibson, and shaming people for saying otherwise, calling them anti-Semitic, or Nazi. I know Gibson is not a nice man after the mean things he has said. But this user, only today? Gibson has not been relevant since, 5 years ago?

I don't mind reading opinions of people on IMDb, but I'm tired of seeing the constant trolling, the constant negativity and the people who are so obsessed with a fictional character that it's ridiculous. Like Youtube, a person will post an opinion that isn't 100% kissass and all the stans will have a freakout.

I used to speak with one guy on there because we both remembered an old show, but then he just became really pretentious and critical about everything I did in my life. Also, he would personally go on a board and ask people why they liked a certain singer or actress and give a negative opinion of the person. I mean, I dislike Taylor Swift, too, but damn. Lol.

He struck me as one of those people who didn't have many friends in real life and couldn't get a girlfriend or boyfriend. (He said he was bi). He also said he had dysgraphia and some other LDs.

This will probably make me sound like an insensitive bitch, but I noticed a lot of people with an LD don't have any social skills and don't know how to be sensitive. Telling someone after they lost a job the manager probably didn't like you, but then getting FREAKED out angry because I said I thought a certain actress would settle down with a baby they have a boner for is ludicrous.

The film leaves no doubt that Belle and the Prince-he is never given a name; I call him Francois-are very much in love.
I'm pretty sure the Prince in the Disney version is called Adam. Normally I'd say that's pointless minutia, but this guy is writing 24 pages of what he calls a dissertation and can't be bothered to take five seconds and Google it?
Unfortunately, that is not what this particular paper concerns. This paper is about BEAUTY AND THE BEAST: THE ENCHANTED CHRISTMAS. It doesn't deserve to be studied or deeply considered like this in the first place. It celebrates nothing but its own sanctimonious pretension. I have informed a number of people-my mother included-and their reactions have been unanimous. They told me not to write this paper. They know that BEAUTY AND THE BEAST is a very personal film for me. They're right. It's incredibly personal. I relate to it more than I relate to reality. I cannot talk or think about THE ENCHANTED CHRISTMAS without becoming either sad or enraged. I am a lover and a student of cinema, and as such, I feel I have a duty. I am going to spoil THE ENCHANTED CHRISTMAS so none of you reading this will have to subject yourselves to it.
This whole paragraph is a masterpiece of autism, but the bolded sentence is particularly... noteworthy.

This IMDB user changes thier username and picture at least once a week but they keep the word 'carrot' every time. I've dubbed this one 'CarrotFucker'. He/she types a grand total of 50 POSTS A DAY. None of which are to well thought out of course, their attention span must be as long as a dime is thick. They also has an unhealthy obsession with Daisy Ridley.

one of my favorite posts of thiers:

"Could Mufasa beat Palpatine?"
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2488496/board/thread/250919062?d=250919062#250919062

Ok, what the fuck? Who DOES this?
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2488496/board/thread/250709490?d=250709490#250709490

There is literally no context for this one at all.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1386697/board/thread/250599731?d=250599731#250599731

As you can see he/she basically uses the 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' board as their personal blog/facebook, to just say whatever the fuck, regardless of whether it has to do with the movie. Aren't there rules against this shit? lol

It's especially hilarious how he hates Lilo and Stitch's very existence because Beauty and the Beast was featured in an ad for the movie

IMDB message boards is getting disabled this coming Feb 20.

http://www.imdb.com/board/announcement

IMDb is the world's most popular and authoritative source for movie, TV and celebrity content. As part of our ongoing effort to continually evaluate and enhance the customer experience on IMDb, we have decided to disable IMDb's message boards on February 20, 2017. This includes the Private Message system. After in-depth discussion and examination, we have concluded that IMDb's message boards are no longer providing a positive, useful experience for the vast majority of our more than 250 million monthly users worldwide. The decision to retire a long-standing feature was made only after careful consideration and was based on data and traffic.

Increasingly, IMDb customers have migrated to IMDb's social media accounts as the primary place they choose to post comments and communicate with IMDb's editors and one another. IMDb's Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/imdb) and official Twitter account (https://twitter.com/imdb) have an audience of more than 10 million engaged fans. IMDb also maintains official accounts on Snapchat (https://www.snapchat.com/add/imdblive), Pinterest (https://www.pinterest.com/imdbofficial/), YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/imdb), and Tumblr (http://imdb.tumblr.com/).

Because IMDb's message boards continue to be utilized by a small but passionate community of IMDb users, we announced our decision to disable our message boards on February 3, 2017 but will leave them open for two additional weeks so that users will have ample time to archive any message board content they'd like to keep for personal use. During this two-week transition period, which concludes on February 19, 2017, IMDb message board users can exchange contact information with any other board users they would like to remain in communication with (since once we shut down the IMDb message boards, users will no longer be able to send personal messages to one another). We regret any disappointment or frustration IMDb message board users may experience as a result of this decision.

IMDb is passionately committed to providing innovative ways for our hundreds of millions of users to engage and communicate with one another. We will continue to enhance our current offerings and launch new features in 2017 and beyond that will help our customers communicate and express themselves in meaningful ways while leveraging emerging technologies and opportunities.

Read that.

Shame really, I'll kind of miss users constantly trying to claim who's the studio plant amongst the crowd or them bitching about unfinished CGI in big-budget films not yet released.

I think I mentioned this site once before and how it was full of "knowledgeable film buffs" (and even shared a sorry excuse of one too). Well, after scrolling through the boards of many recent releases, I think it's about time I share a little more with you.

At this point I assume you all know what IMDb is, and that each and every entry either has a message board, or the option to make one. Well, after looking at them, I can safely say that they are, no lie, a cesspool that even out rivals the likes of TVTropes, FurAffinity or even /b/ (only without the nude photos and shit). Every board's the same old "Insert 'This actor/actress/writer/CGI/movie/fourm user as a whole' sucks!!!1" topic full of moronic comments and rampant trolling, or completely batshit converations like "Who's hotter?" or "Blank movie is better than this movie" and provide a flimsy excuse to justify their like of that film.

As a whole, it's a mess that's kinda hard to explain without showing you, so here's the boards themselves, and the ED page (NSFW, of course). And to finish what I have to say, here's a few choice quote from various boards:
What user Swoosh2000 had to say about why RoTJ was better than the prequels:

Tommyholtslander's opinions on CGI as typed by a five year-old:

ConnorKyle's clearly not a fan of Disney (from the Kimba the White Lion boards):

Thought I'd link this one, but beetleborgs69's got a bone to pick with SpongeBob (from the Sponge Out of Water boards).

Sad part is, some of these are from failtrolls (IMDb's full of those). Some of these are serious opinions by the poster in question. So what say you, Kiwis? You up for a little looky-loo?

This post makes the complaints about the message boards going down seem hilarious in retrospect.
