I’m not surprised in the least bit.

You’d be safer and cleaner traveling through the Savannahs, Ugandan and Congo jungles than you would one day in India. You’re a lot less likely to catch the bubonic plague in South Africa than in India.

It also helps that most people in Africa have far more dignity. Their shanty towns make sense when you consider the tropical climate they live in. India has even less of an excuse.
