I can hear the screaming and wailing as everything implodes around the people actively driving this and they just won't be able to grasp why as everything collapses into shit around them. Either that or we get chaos and violence as actual people are pushed against the wall. I don't really want this, but its getting harder to ignore it's a likely possibility.

Tbf, I'm not sure if mostly illiterate and extremely war-torn people who probably don't have the best leaders they can trust to teach them the truth have the best knowledge and understanding of even their own religion. Of course sinners of a religion are still of that religion, but from what I've seen a lot of terrible rituals in shitholes are done because they believe it's part of the religion even if it actually isn't but is a holdover from old superstitions. These people could retain their religion (just done proper), learn better and become civilized one day (and if they can't it's not due to religion). Shitholes are shitholes and they'll come up with justifications for atrocities regardless of religion. If religion isn't your thing that's your prerogative, but regardless of some old farts trying to use religion to hold people back, most people of certain faiths are not incompatible with modernity and civilization.
Hinduism however, like the Aztec religion, is just antithetical to civility. Child sacrifice, panchagavya, widow exile, etc are beyond the pale. Even if you transplanted Hindus into a good country with real laws and infrastructure, gave everyone education, and fixed everyone to believe in a singular version of Hinduism, you would still end up with a horrific country if they followed the known scriptures and lessons as they are. There's just no comparison in my eyes, even from an atheistic perspective. Though admittedly that's me trying to see this through a lens which isn't mine

I don't think it's about religion neccesarily. I think it's just humanity. I've heard stories from old ladies that they were a god fearing family and yet the father snuck in the room when she was 13. This was like back in the 50's. Everything seems worse only now, because we are all connected, we can hear from people everywhere. I think theres a bit more nuance to it.

It's incredible to me how they manage to be worse (and far more delayed) at the art of scamming & general deceiving of unaware/innocent victims than their long-separated and genetically related brothers, the cigans. At least you can commend cigans for figuring it out 400-500 years earlier than the jeets with barely any external influence, but Indians had to wait for the the Internet and its related services to go worldwide for them to realize scamming in any significant + organized matter (fake tech call centers). Take the Web away from their brown hands and they have nothing. Literally nothing at all.
