They also will use “dear“ all the time in every communication, it’s a dead give away where normal English speakers rarely use that outside of truck stop waitresses and spouses.
 
I got a phone call from UPS today to possibly set up a job interview (found the listing on Indeed), but I told the guy who called I had to go without elaborating given several red flags:
  • Minnesota area code (I'm in Florida) with very clearly Indian-accented guy calling.
  • Guy didn't just ask about what time to set up an interview.
  • Seemed hesitant to tell me which UPS location it was where I applied.
I figure this was a guy who is probably an illegal alien, and working there would mean I'd likely be assisting him with money ripping off people like me. Hiring has gotten so bad in this country that things like this are happening. This whole thing struck me as incredibly shady, and so I didn't pursue with setting up an interview. And this isn't simply blunt racism, it's just this is an overall societal problem with the host population getting ripped off given the government wants to keep importing illegals because it's cheaper and lazier.

Let me tell you what happened:
UPS is a union shop. So they don't do their own hiring. They outsource "candidate management" to a contracting firm (your jeet in minnesota). Often to do the initial phone screen and then forward you on to the ACTUAL UPS HR to schedule interveiws, and then if they make you an offer to forward counter offer and if agreed to process start date and any relocation.

he was cagey about the exact location you were applying to because that is information he likely had to dig for and wasn't on the "Call Screen".

Be lucky he was in Minnesota. Last time I did interviews at A Big Firm(tm) the Candidate Management was 100% deep-strain Indian and virtually unintelligible; when she called before we ended the call I requested a "a written summary to my email" from the Pajeeta who was working my case and I think she eventually got the hint and stopped calling me after the 3rd time, and just emailed me to schedule interviews, etc.

My favorite part was I was on the other side of the country and they were walking me through the script about coordinating parking, before I subtly asked when they would be booking air fare and she actually was made aware of the distances involved;like bish I know you are india but come the fuck on, its not even a neighboring state.
