This is a slight powerlevel on my part, but I have something to share regarding the observation that there is often a substantial mismatch between a jeet’s paper qualifications and their real-world performance. So, I have this jeet coworker, who by all accounts should be a subject matter expert and far more qualified than me. He has 10 years of experience on me and has all these letters after his name (we work in a field where professional licensure is not strictly required, but highly preferred if you really want to advance). Yet his project management style is incredibly haphazard and lacking in both basic communication skills and common sense. Also, when I look at the kinds of questions he poses to our clients, they are not any more insightful than mine would be—in fact, he often just compiles questions from myself and other colleagues, without adding much from his own perspective.

I do not think this is a case of fraud, as our firm is very meticulous about verifying employees’ credentials during its background check process. But I just don’t think I’ve encountered another situation like this where I was initially expecting to be highly impressed by someone, but then was disappointed after actually working with them.

I really want to say you’re right, but I’m thinking back to when I had to go through the hiring and onboarding process myself, and I’m not sure how he would have made it through that with fraudulent qualifications. But it’s also likely that I’m underestimating the jeet ability to scam and cheat using any means possible.

The other possibility is that his qualifications are legit, but he just memorized facts without actually learning or internalizing anything, and then promptly forgot them all after the qualification exam.

Slight powerlevel but i work in the human freight business and the inmense amount of times i see unruly kids makes me wish i could smack them and their parents around until they comply. Because sometimes the parents are far worse than their goddam hellspawn.

In that case i truly wish you could just bar people from using transportation if they do not follow the rules. And if they complain, sucks to be them. They should not be accomodated.

If you trust a jeet's qualifications i bet you would also trust a suspiciously wealthy nigerian expat royalty that needs to give you money.

Jeets are the main reason diploma mills exist. They literally buy qualifications without going through the courses or exams. They are 100% legit but they didn't do the course nor exams required.

Thats literally the Indian education system. Its how they can fraud themselves into IT jobs, they memorize the questions that are in the hiring screen (provided by their friends who do the hiring) long enough to look capable and then once theyre hired they forget it all.

And also remember - a passing grade in India is 33%, so theyre not even that good at rote memorization.
