The Instagram "Discourse" Community - Where children share their political opinions with the aid of Danganronpa characters.

I’ve dipped into the #discoursecommunity tag before and it’s a very bizarre mishmash of opinions.

Yes, you get the absolutely hilarious posts about not flirting with ghosts, but on the other hand, there’s a subset of kids trying to say actually coherent things, which sound obvious to normal people, but they’re often attacked for it. One of the things kids get harassed for the most is saying there’s no such thing as “pansexuality” and that you’re just bisexual, or that a lesbian is a woman who is attracted to women. It’s scary how much normal statements are seen as prejudiced and bad, and to think the kids involved are all 14 or something... *sigh*

Instagram is a goldmine for retarded gen z content, specially with social change shit. I'll keep my eye out for some really stupid shit next time I'm online. :)

Before I go on, I'm happy to see my first thread doing so well, and I'll work to continue improving it! As a side note: Seeing users change their profile pictures to these out-of-context discourse posts is hilarious.

Figured I'd tac on a few JoJo-themed discourse posts from this (archive) shithole because I'm a JoJo sperg. Fair warning though, if you visit this page, your eyes are going to be assaulted with a clash of playpen-bright colors and shit takes.

Thank you, Dio, who attempted to seduce two teenagers in canon, one of which he may actually have assaulted. Very cool.

And this shit is harmful to my eyes.

20200807_165802.jpg

At least there's less strain?

20200807_165845.jpg

I take that back. Brain strain is worse than eye strain.

This is the entire post. This "analysis" makes no sense. The thesis is the importance of character development, and they follow it up with fatherhood being a major theme throughout SBR, then end it with stating facts about the characters instead of using them to support the claim. Have these people ever stepped foot into an English class? Though, do you expect any less from an account like this?

Wait, JoJo isn't a yaoi?

The phrase "many of us in the kin community have committed sins against the Bible" is enough to hospitalize someone from whiplash. Also, reincarnation and Christianity are pretty incompatible, but you do you.

This last one plus the one about women's opinions being more viable than men's screams satire, though in this day and age, who knows? Regardless, I do think that this account is serious for the most part, unlike Candlelight, who mostly just trolls.

This thread has potential. Deviantart also does quite a bit of this and it's its own unique flavour of terrible.

In retrospect, this idea of speaking through fictional characters in this way may have stemmed from places that hosted large fandom communities, like DeviantART and Tumblr. I remember things like this being prevalent on Tumblr especially, ranging from benign stuff like making a character trans or autistic to saying shit like "kill cops."

Of course, fiction is a viable media to convey messages, but there's a core difference between what these kids do and what actual producers of media do.

Every good story is designed like a well-oiled machine with aspects like the characters and world working in conjunction with one another to speak whatever truth they're trying to convey in a subtle, natural way. The problem is that these "discourse" accounts and other people who use characters as blunt mouthpieces like this displace the characters from their elements, and the whole thing falls flat on its face. The characters become eye candy instead of supplemental material, and it makes their points seem extremely juvenile, even if they are actually educated (which is rare).

My favorite thing is that most of these spergs are the types who say shit like "You can't ship this because fiction needs to portray this thing in this way!" and then use Hisoka to tell us why pedophilia is wrong.

That set of Johnny posts made me question if I had a stroke. I don't know much about religion but isn't kinning and Christianity incompatible unless you ignore a bunch of the teachings? Correct me if I'm wrong.

In the way this person kins, yes. He believes that he actually was this character in a past life, which directly contradicts the Christian doctrine of judgment and eternal sentencing after death. There are of course different sects, but I don't think there is a single piece of evidence in the Bible to support that humans who aren't prophets reincarnate.

Also, the multiverse theory, which is how kinnies believe these fictional characters exist, is pretty incongruous with the creation story.

Alright, this whole "community" has to be my new favorite thing. The amount of 'satire' that's purely retarded and blends right in with the other non-satire posts is rediculous. If no one can tell that its satire that means you're not actually good at doing satire.

Anyway, here are some of my favorites ive found so far:

There's a stupid amount of bisexual/pansexual 'discourse' that I dont really understand. Is this what people argue about nowadays? Am I getting old?

Gonna sperg for a bit about LGBTQ+ discourse to contextualize some things since this is a prominent topic of conversation in the community being covered.

Don't worry, you're not getting old. It's just such an asinine case of a mole hill getting turned into a mountain, and it's pretty easy to steer clear of if you're not an avid user of mainstream social media platforms.

It's so funny bouncing back and forth between the Farms and other social media platforms. It's two completely different worlds. I used to be a Tumblrista and I'm still active on both Instagram and Twitter, so I unfortunately have an understanding of what they're talking about. I wish I didn't because the shit gets annoying once you've heard the same points a thousand times.

Basically, snowflake bisexuals decided they weren't oppressed enough in the past few years, so they started attacking the pansexual label. Bisexuals were angry because pansexuals made claims about being into "hearts not parts" and there being a rising assumption with the pansexual label that bisexuals weren't "inclusive" enough of transgender and non-binary people. Bisexuals felt "invalidated," so they started sperging about it on Tumblr and Twitter. Pansexuals were invalidated and called "biphobic," so naturally, they started swinging back. There's also discourse about whether or not asexual people should be included in the community, which is something you will very likely see scrolling through these posts if you haven't already.

LGBTQ+ community finally gains more acceptance into society, and then they destroy themselves from the inside. It be ya own.

Have no clue what fae/faer means gender-wise. Just thought it was another word for pixie. This set just s l o w l y gets worse as you read it.
Sorry for my shitty cropping job, kinda rushed it...

Fae/faer is pretty much just one of those "special" pronouns. It's pretty much the same thing as "unicorngender" where you can apply it to whatever label you want to identify with. Though, to be fair, fae/faer is feminine, so people that are "non-binary but female leaning" will use it. That type of stuff.

Reminder that there are still countries that still persecute gay and transgender people, but these spergs are crying over microlabels that equate to non-issues. As the old Tumblr proverb goes: "Check your privilege."

I just recently got on the Farms so this is all a bit new to me but it's super funny seeing how discussions work on different platforms. You'll get burned on the stake on Twitter for not agreeing with the majority and Instagram is becoming Tumbler 2.0.
