The Interview/Team America not being shown in theaters.

We all know now that Seth Rogan's film The Interview will not be shown in most, if any, theaters due to Sony being hacked by what American officials believe to be North Koreans.
A few theaters decided in place of The Interview, they would instead show Team America: World Police.
Two days ago, Paramount pictures has decided they will now allow Team America to be played in any theatre.

So here we are.
Do you think that theaters are really afraid of North Korea or some nutbag who's gonna do another Aurora?

Is Sony and Paramount doing the right thing or folding to terrorists?

Does Seth Rogan think we're all fucking retarded? A fictional country and name would have worked fine. We're capable of looking at Fictonia and it's Ruler Kevij Jawn Fook and knowing who you were referencing. But no.

Is Seth Rogan fucking retarded? Again, using fictional names would've been fine, but as the producer and co writer he didn't. What the shit was he expecting?

I wanted to see The Interview. Now I get to see Team America. I can't say I'm complaining either way.

If Obama's not concerned about North Korea blowin the US up, then neither should we be. Let the movie be played, I say.

I was going to call North Korea a bunch of wusses because of the movie having a foregone conclusion, but my sister says she heard that Rogen and Franco's characters actually do kill Kim Jong-un in the end. Seeing as my sister is a movie news buff, I'm inclined to believe her.

Eh, using fictional names clearly doesn't have the emotional impact that being explicit does. It's not like movies about WWII use fake names for Hitler. It's Sony's fault for folding.

About the hacker data being compiled in Korean, which was the smoking gun that caused people to think it was Korean in the first place

Apparently it's been revealed that North Korea does not actually speak Korean but their own dialect of it, and "traditional Korean" like the kind in SK is forbidden. And this has apparently caused communication with NK refugees difficult as a result.

As well, NK has only had internet since 2010. And the hacker group that hacked Sony has been active since 2007. Any hackers NK would've hired would've been from China or Russia.

It's about not being afraid of offending people.

This is a good overview of the situation: https://www.schneier.com/blog/archives/2014/12/did_north_korea.html

Also, there are torrents available: https://kickass.so/the-interview-2014-1080p-web-dl-aac2-0-h264-rarbg-t10001096.html

Edit: Whoops, that link's broken, here's a magnet link.

Not letting this movie be shown in theaters will only make people more interested in wanting to see it.
The is rank cowardice of the vilest form. Freedom of expression was our society's one redeeming feature.
That is true. This film not being shown because some fat dictator's ego was bruised thanks to a movie mocking him just hurts that freedom of expression.
