Is there a literature or film critique term for this type of garbage? In the first game these incidental lines between Joel and Ellie were great. They would reveal vague details about the state of the world, what had happened in the past 20 years, and develop the relationship between the characters. In Part II it seems like all the incidental dialogue is just this sort of insipid rubbish.

One of the interesting things in the first is seeing this crumbling world through the eyes of a kid. She didn't get stuff like comics, to her it was all status quo. It's interesting to see someone with that point of view where their value system is so different from what we take for granted now. The dude behind Senran Kagura basically left Marvelous and took SK with him because Marvelous was locked into an agreement with Sony and that meant all further SK titles were going to be blanket censored by default. Sony has gone crazy with censoring weebshit in the last two years, and Japanese devs have taken notice, either flocking to Nintendo or saying "fuck it" and going straight to PC.

It's not just weebery, either, western devs are noticing the censorship push too. Don't be honeydicked into buying a PS5. Wait and see.
