the problem is normies gonna norm. just look at the like 5 seconds of luke skywalker in mandalorian and suddenly everybody was OMG BASED DISNEY STAR WARS IS SAVED!!!11At this point, so is hijacking yet another franchise. It's now assumed that any "reboot" is absolute shit and is going straight off a cliff into retardation, not even because "woke," but because shit. People who don't even care about wokeshit are now used to Yet Another Capeshit Movie being bait-and-switch crap.
the fans or just the people that value the original somewhat were always skeptical of remasters/reboots since they know he qualities of the original and expect none of that will make it into the new version (some it of is fart huffing, but as history has shown they're not entirely wrong either).
the bigger issue imo is that they burned through the big IPs so hard and fast there's only niche stuff left or stuff going back decades (so minimal nostalgia value if hardly anyone can even remember it) or reboot of the reboot spiderman-style, where the IP still might have some market value left but is so fresh in people's memory they gonna compare it inadvertently.
