Something bothering me since the revelations about Druckmann originally surfaced was his pushing out Amy Hennig, because anyone who's been paying attention over the last decade or so knows exactly why he fucking did it.
See, Druckyboy belongs to the same insane ideology that's been trying to push the "everything must be laden with identity politics" shit that's been a canker in the heart of the industry since 2008. This is the same group of speds catering to the ResetERA/Gamerghazi/Rationalwiki crowd, with all of the outright insanity that implies, and you know nothing else about Social Justice, it's that its treatment of dissenters, even if they are minorities, women, or both, is outright surreal in how appalling it is.
In the case of Amy Hennig, she actively opposed the identity politics bullshit pushed by this crowd, and had the balls to say "No, there isn't any institutional barriers keeping women out of the industry, and there hasn't been in decades. Fuck off." She was one of the most critically-acclaimed writers video gaming had, to boot, the kind that actually could get people to buy games. An industry veteran, who doesn't care about your ideology, and actively opposes what you're trying to do? We can't have that shit.
So they did exactly what Bioware did when it got overrun with the same crowd: Pushed an established veteran who refused to go along with the message (Ree Soesbee in Bioware's case) who had actual credentials (a fucking PhD in literature) out so they could hire a completely unqualified hack that believed in the ideology (Jennifer Hepler) who has repeatedly claimed she hates video games to fill the slot who she left behind.
This is the same race to the bottom mentality that swept through Sci-Fi as the Hugo Awards became a fucking joke and writers the caliber of Chuck Wendig became the norm.
