The Last of Us Franchise - Because it's apparently a franchise now. This thread has been double-DMCA’d by Sony Interactive Entertainment.

What I'd like to know is what exactly is the logic behind remaking TLOU when the real thing that would even move unsold TLOU2 copies is multiplayer. Everybody loved it in TLOU but despite constantly claiming it's coming, TLOU2 most likely will never get something that Ghosts literally rolled out for free.

The real answer, of course, is that the idiots at Naughty Dog don't give a fuck about video games. It's all pretentious media studies.

going by the latest schreier kerfuffle (to promote his book), apparently parts of the the days gone studio was working with ND on "something" multiplayer (iirc). and apparently the whole thing was such a great experience that they either quit or asked to get taken off the project. third hand account (from fucking reddit) since I cba to watch a 4 hour stream where it was talked about, so I might be completely wrong.

more likely it won't come for free since it's much more lucrative to make it a standalone spinoff game which sony can sell for $70 + tip and rife with microtransactions, which doesn't have to deal with the bad aftertaste tlou2 left behind either.

This shit is why I'm not surprised to hear Microsoft making a fucking killing courting Japanese VTubers to sell their products. How true it actually is, I dunno, I haven't actually looked into it, but I'm not surprised if it is.

I know hololive had marketing streams, but 2 of the smaller ones (although botan is pretty popular in russia, maybe ms wanted to combo shill to several markets at once, since hololive also got a big non-japanese audience). to what success tho is debatable. gamepass is nice and all, but since you still need explicit permission per game to stream they showed gears and control and that was it (the princess went full nerd and played flight sim and forza), and it was only one stream each two weeks ago. not necessarily games I'd have picked as a showcase for a japanese audience...

still, I doubt they asked microsoft for it (although some of them apparently played halo at some point), so I assume it was initiated by microsoft.

The flightsim stream was not that great because if you don't go full autisms with micorsoft flight sim you're playing it wrong.

At that point simply developing the multiplayer into its own standalone thing, maybe with its own bare bones plotline completely unrelated to the shitshow that the main story is (thanks to TLOU2), would actually be the kick in the ass the franchise needs to maybe be good again.

The farther from TLOU2, the better.

It was fun seeing tlou2 stans flip shit when hades won bafta
I'm just disappointed that people still put value into awards shows, they're all heavily fixed at this point. Then again many people got hyped for that E3 announcement of it returning, so maybe some people never learn.

Hell it makes me wonder just how many people would willingly board another 8 year Kojima Ruse Cruise.

Not even a multiplayer guy, I just liked TLOU2's setting and combat. I'd imagine sniping and cutting through ruined buildings in multiplayer would be pretty fun. You could have dogs on your team as well.

Reportedly, Sony told Kojima to pack sand.

So he's going to Microsoft.

Not woke enough, unfortunately.

I'm guessing Druckmann wants to make 'white girls fuck dogs' a video game reality?

I liked TLOU's multiplayer. I never even beat the single player story. I just played the multiplayer.
I only recently finished TLOU after renting it when it first came out on ps3 years ago and then buying a ps4 version. I was stuck on an area where there were multiple clickers in an enclosed area and kept on failing. Then when I tried again I beat that area the first go. It felt surreal. I highly recommend it. The story still holds up quite well....

I really like TLOU1 multiplayer. It had nothing to do with zombies, but it felt like an insurgency simulator. Root around through buildings looking for shit to cobble together into bombs and traps, high-stakes shootouts with guns that hit hard, healing yourself manually. It was great.

Microsoft rumor was apparently false.

Especially since Sony directly funds Kojima's studio much like they do with the Epic Store. You have longstanding sony employees on Kojima's team who have been with the company for decades. It's on par with rumors of Nintendo breaking up with gamefreak because they released a game on the PS4.

They fucking killed Silent Hills, MGSV ended up being an unfinished mess because people somehow expected the guy known for being insane to not be insane when it came to a Metal Gear Solid title, and Death Stranding undersold significantly.

And then you have a guaranteed seller like a PC port of Bloodborne - not happening. Because Sony's priorities do not appear to be focused on actually making games people want to buy all that much anymore.

They're not going to port Bloodborne because an enhanced port will sell PS5's. Kadokawa is Fromsoft's parent company.

There's many people that want to buy a GOW or Horizon Sequel and they're going to be promoting those with shows. There's also a fuckload of people who would buy a Spiderman game especially if it's also backed up with it's own show. Corona fucked a ton of things, because by now the Horizon show would have already been in production and they did the PC port so that it would draw attention to the series and get people to buy Playstations.

They're also actively working with Falcom for the Legend of Heroes Cold Steel TV series and it will have a new game coming out next year.

Personally I'm not bothered with games getting TV shows that act as advertisements, it's what made the early console wars so memorable. All this cross marketing and cross promoting, it's not really a bad thing.

I really doubt it. Part of the reason insane sjws loved TLOU2 so much was a white man getting brutally murdered with a golf club.
They've been talking about breaking boundaries and crossing borders, so casting a Mexican as Joel makes perfect sense.
