You negroes have the worst taste in youtubers I swear. If I have to see one more Brodie/Lunduke/whateverfaggot video in here I'm airdropping Slav Power on this thread again.

As an aside I hate this piece of shit, what's the point of it even coming automatically with a new debian install if it's going to make networking such a pain in the ass. Couldn't manage network connections in a reasonable way until I got rid of it.
I instantly assumed the video was shit the moment I came across it then posted it here with no context just to listen to others takes on it.

I feel no shame.

The Linux community has the opposite problem. Anything that doesn't work, or works poorly, or is just a hassle, is held up as something you shouldn't want to do. While some of that is user error, a lot of it isn't.
The 5% people are usually referring to are games that literally can not work on linux by design. Specifically ones with anticheat. They could work on Linux if the companies wanted them too. They could probably find a solution to an effectice means of anticheat on linux also. Likely some kind of out of tree kernel module or something that you install like nvidia dkms. Or a kernel you use just for the game.

The point is, yeah linux people tend to not care for these companies, and would generally prefer people not use their goyslop games.

I keep seeing Linux fanboys pretend to not understand this extremely simple aspect of the challenge, or act as if it's a stupid rule. Makes me suspect they know the Linux community has a massive elitism issue.
It's elitism to think someone is a retarded nigger if they can't figure out how to type a question into google?

Elitism has a low bar these days.

I guess it makes sense. Admitting that Linus purposefully acting even more retarded than he actually is, echos your experience is a really embarrassing admission. Not gonna lie.

LTTs "success" with his Linux series was not only a fluke but completely undeserved and should be forgotten/ignored by anyone asking around about switching over. Contemptible faggot doesn't even deserve the broken clock distinction.

Sounds like you didn't watch it.

Edit so to not double:
For those that haven't seen, or maybe don't remember. The point of the challenge is that they don't use friends or expert contacts because not everyone has a troon on call 24/7.

When they googled, they often got shit tier articles and years old forum posts. When PopOS threw up pages of word vomit, he googled it and the answer was to type "do as I say" which promptly uninstalled his desktop.

Linux fanboys took the wrong lesson from this. They rushed to patch out that specific "bug" and then call Linus shit. What they should have done is realised that Linux had a usability problem for those who aren't up to their eyeballs in it.

I'm guessing these are the same people that throw a fit any time Valve or PewDiePie is mentioned, because both did far more to promote Linux than troons repeatedly chanting that it's the year of the Linux desktop for real this time.

If only there was something for that. Like youtube, and not search engines that everyone knows is absolute asswater seo bullshit.

The forums he went to told him how to install steam using apt. He was the retarded one and typed "yes, do as i say!" to a prompt that literally told him this will fuck up your computer and your removing essential package, not the forum post.

Edit: Found the exact forum post he used. No sign of someone telling him to type "do as I say".

It was a bug and was fixed before the video went out. PopOS is based on Ubuntu, and some retard at canonical or whoever maintains steam for ubuntu tied the steaminstaller package to gnome desktop, which when installed will remove pop desktop. This isnt a usability problem, it was a bug. Without the bug, Steam would have installed just fine when he used PopShop or whatever they called their appstore.

You know what games have more players than those? Stardew Valley, Mewgenics, and Eurotruck Simulator 2. and Terraria. All games I think could run comfortably on a high end machine from 2014.
fun fact the most popular pc games in the world are games that can be played on a cheap pc/laptop, cause thats what most people have. stuff like league of legends, counter strike, dota 2, roblox, minecraft

The peak concurrent player count of cyberpunk is 1 million. The combined total of the peak player count of the 4 indie games you mentioned is only 800k. Sure, they are averaging more players now, but thats how shit works, they are not story games, they are simulators/world builders, meaning infinite replayability.
That's all online gaming, though. You cannot possibly know how many people play their games offline. I, for example, haven't played online in over 15 years.

Fuck it, going to try out SonicDE on my main PC since I'm tired of dealing with constant random bullshit from KDE with every single update.
No one is saying "Why are you trying to play games with kernel level anticheats?" as though its a sin to play them. You want to use Linux, you have to deal with the fact those games are inherently broken either intentionally or not on Linux.
It should be noted that, in most cases, it's not so much that KLAC is broken. Rather, it's that developers outright blocking Linux users entirely. There are plenty of cases where two games will hand exact same anticheat but only one of them will allow Linux users. Frankly, though, the whole anticheat is a moot point since development in cheating clients is getting to the point of hardware modification and AI that can bypass most KLACs.

I blocked windows and macintoch user agents now and after a while the AI bots stopped spamming. All of the AI bots had windows/mac user agents. Since my website only contains linux/bsd software I dont care if windows/mac users can't access it.
I've geo-blocked China and India, plus every ali express data centre (and a couple of other chinky warehouses) I could find, and I've got pretty much the same result. It does mean I no longer get confirmation e-mails from ali express, but I needed to stop buying shit off there anyway. It always breaks. Worst traffic I get now is from amazon and google, and occasionally a rush of bots from some chancer spinning up a bunch of VPSs on digital ocean.

Are any of you guys ripping DVDs to add to your collection? I've been using something called MakeMKV for years now and suddenly it's telling me my trial expired. Any key I find online it says not valid.

Any suggestions for DVD ripping software?
Buy a key to support their work (it's what I did).

I personally would prefer more rust over more python. Taking perfectly good C projects, and turning them into rust, thats a different story. Python scripts? Yeah I will take a much faster rust binary over those any day. I stopped using ranger for this exact reason. Python is just slow, even if you write great python at certain times there's only so much you can do about it.

I remember a time and place where Java rewrites to C were in the zeitgeist. Some of that was warrented but a lot was not. It was a reaction to loads of low quality Java apps at the time. The c rewrites to rust perplex me. The argument has even less legs.

I support anything over Python. I’m never able to just run someone else’s python project, it often feels like it’s just as much work just getting that shit to run as it would be to vibe code my own personal version instead. Which is a shame because I like writing python, it’s just the ecosystem has been allowed to decay into pure garbage.

"just use a venv bro it's easy bro" I hear you. It's a suffering-from-success problem. Python's grown so much in terms of popularity that its ecosystem can't keep up. I'm sure if Ruby was so big, it would encounter similar issues.
