The Linux Thread - The Autist's OS of Choice

So I just discovered this thing.

Pretty cool. You can get shaders from shadertoy.com and use them as wallpapers in KDE. I decided to go a step further and recreate my favourite Wallpaper Engine scene, Shimmering Particles, but since I didn't know anything about making shaders I had to learn that first. So I sat up all night. Well worth it, now I have an animated wallpaper I can easily tune to perfection. For now, though, I desperately need some sleep.

on the topic of tech in china i read on wikipedia that adobe still makes a version of flash but with added chinese spyware in china can anyone verify if thats true if so i can only wonder what they make
It's true. It's the last global flash version (Plus compatability for W11/W10) but it has ads and telemetry on it. Latter required by law. Former is because there's no such thing as privacy in China (be it the state, companies, or your jackass neighbors). A lot of the Chinese government shit is either new phone app, stuck on perpetual IE 11/9, or is completely airgapped on their own special networks and infrastructure. Good example of the latter are the ID cards of the Chinese People's Armed Police (Think gendarmerie) which are not verifiable by those of non-military agencies and they have military only fibre optic cables specifically for them.
I became aware of it earlier this week. Debian based. The point of interest is that the Russian govt. seems to be going all in on it.
It's going to have the same issue the Chinese have with their own processors (using American made MIPS or RISC-V ISA), if you don't design it yourself there's always going to be backdoors you don't know. You'll also probably end up trading some ciphers like AES for GOST R 34.12-2015

Please clarify if that's the normal logo / profile picture for gnome; I'm 99% sure it isn't. They got both the desktops with wayland support but most distros themselves seem to have satayed out of this. Can anyone here shed more light on this or tell me its not as bad as it looks?

I have been using KDE as my default on home PC for a while now but XFCE has been tempting me and I use it in almost all VMs I do. I find Dolphin to be better than Thunar for my file management in a way I can't really explain better than it just feeling right. Maybe I just got used to it.

Also been considering trying out Budgie but it's not really a big deal.

That is violently Linux.

Some of those accounts are dead or inactive:
I have seen it claimed that Gnome is woke-captured. I don't know about KDE.

I’d just like to interject for a moment. What you’re refering to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I’ve recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux.

I hate GNU fags for being stuck in the eternal 80s/90s mindset (the compiler is useful obviously). I hope Clang beats the absolute fuck out of them.

Clang perhaps, but goddamn, everything wants a specific version of LLVM and LLD, especially when Rust is involved somewhere.
Is Rust pure cancer or is there anything good about it?

Why does it seem everyone who insists on converting some program that already works fine into Rust is also a gigantic faggot or a troon.

The way I understand it Rust is popular mainly because it's about comparable in performance to C, but it has a lot of luxury features like automatic garbage collection, so you don't need to worry about leaking memory like you would with C.

Rust does not compile unless the code will work. There is almost no margin of error. It is very soothing to autistics. There is effectively only one right way to write code in Rust.
That's odd, I thought trannies don't work properly unless they 41%.
