Out of curiosity, why do people now still prefer cygwin over WSL?+1 for Cygwin on Windows. You can also get a "live" Linux installation (Linux Mint Live for example) on a USB stick and run Linux without changing your hard drive. Keep in mind that Linux is self-documenting; it will tell you everything you want or need to know, once you learn how to ask.
A small handful of commands will get you a long way: man, ls, find, cat, grep, which, apropos
