it'd probably be worth getting the Pro
Can't recommend it at this time.

I had worse performance out of the Pro versus the base model Pinephone, even after spending months tinkering with it in 2024. The pinephone is more or less usable but will sometimes drop/not receive calls and had a significant number of (at the time) unsolvable QOL irritants that just made it unpleasant to daily drive. The Pro was all of that plus even less reliability and polish.

They might get to being good eventually. Its definitely come a long way from the start. But I remember seeing the communities behind the project dwindle more and more over the years. Which is a bad sign.

Let's not even talk about the Purism Librem 5. It's trash. I won't call it an out and out scam product, but there is zero cause to give them your money for cheap shitty hardware sold at insane prices. I have absolutely nothing good to say after my time with it and to this day keep a burning coal of disdain for Purism's greed in my heart.

I'm tired of starting at reddit niggerbabble and the general consensus seems to be "yeah power management doesn't work at all on linux, maybe if you drop 3000 on a new laptop with amd it'll fix it idk." I guess desktop Linux really is a meme.
This isn't entirely wrong. There are like six different things handling power management on Linux (kernel DPMS, systemd, your display manager, your graphical login manager, your desktop environment, your GPU drivers) and you have entered into the forest of evil.

I'd just set it to shut down when you close the lid. This is what I do with my laptops.

The main reason I have hope for them. Is if graphene no longer is viable. It will probably push the demand for a Linux phone. Rather than something android. Now while graphene is here. There isn't anything that beats it in quality that I know of.

Well, yesterday a story was so big that he published it for everyone
https://youtube.com/watch?v=Av9rpgQUf_wSo I reckon there's less slop going on
He talks about what he thinks should be done to these people, that hate Jews. One is being fired which yeah as a Microsoft employee it's deserved, no question. But he doesn't think that should be it. He thinks Microsoft should dox them and shame them to the entire Internet. Because they don't like Jews.

It's just another moment of him letting the mask slip more. It's something I feel like I would have overlooked if I didn't know he was, against online anonymity well into the past. And keeps trying to push the idea to his audience in new ways. And gives different justifications to it. None of which really are the reason.

He wants people to do the EXACT same thing that happened in 2016 up until recently with cancel culture bullshit. But for people that hate Jews. Or say bad things about Jews, or troll him online and bring up that he's a Jew

I don't even agree with the intifadah people. They seem like retards, and I honestly don't give a fuck about Palestine, or Israel.
I watched like 2 minutes of the first one when it was out and avoided the second one. It's on the OSS thread too which I've cross-quoted here. I decided to give it a watch knowing it was going to be retard sauce.

I do think anyone going all political at their job is a fucking moron and there's no problem firing someone if they do some hard-left Palestinian protest or some hard-right hug-a-jew for Israel protest. Work and non-work should be separate. If a company fired you for some other protest where you didn't mention your company and didn't wear any company swag, that's a different issue. But I agree with you, Lunduke shows his true colors by going way far.

At the same time, I can't just say "based" with these protestors. Like Lunduke said, they're not saying "anti-zionist." You're average Jew is as stupid as Lunduke or a MAGS-tard-republican. You don't have to be pro-Palestinian to be anti-Israel. These people don't understand the difference between your average Jew running that bakery down the street and a honest to fuck, VP at JPMorgan kike. Palenstine is sad just because all the smart people left over the past four decades when Israel gave them money and arranged visas with everyone from the Saudis to fucking Brazil. The ones left are the descended of the stuborn or stupid. Lunkduke can cry about the "bloody hands in jew blood" all he wants, but he never mentions how his favorite nation is staving and carpet bombing out children out of existance.

This is just further why EVERYONE needs to step back their stupid fucking /pol ideologies out of open source and corporate. I don't want some MAGA-tard justifying sending troops into cities or taking issue with someone burning their own flag! That's why it's so essential for some of these projects like XLibre, Mandriva, etc. to make sure no one politically splerges on either side. Take your Orange-Man-Great/Orange-Man-Bad shit to some other form to argue about. Don't bitch on here if someone is pro-Jew/pro-Tranny on some other account. No one gives a shit unless they bring the project into it.

TL;DR : lunduke is a Jew, he lies, he wants people that don't like Jews to be named and shamed.
He is sadly the only person that covers this type of "political tech" news. I have seen big names reference this retarded jew as a legit source because he is the only guy actually talking about these topics.

That's like Rolling Stone being the only news site covering politics, and everyone just going off of their word...
Wait, that just sounds like the BBC.

Jokes aside, I am glad most people in the Linux world, no matter what belief that have, see this guy as a clown and nothing else.

Now, despite this, Omarchy does sound neat. I might check it out later and see if it is as good as it looks (though I won't have a use for it because I already have Hyprland + Arch Linux installed, and even then, I barely use Hyprland because I prefer KDE).

I just gave up and went back to 10. I use sleep frequently. I feel like I shouldn't have to do silly things like always shut down. Maybe I'll try dual booting in the future.

One of the reasons I respect the Artix creator from the interview posted a few pages back. The guy seems to be just some normal dude that likes to play Jazz music and code. I didn't realize how much I missed devs in FOSS being regular folks doing cool shit with their computers.

The Artix Linux forums are cozy as fuck to browse, really, takes me back to the days of VideoGameCritic.

I will be buying a T60 tomorrow for $76. It may be slower, but it is better anyways.
No it is not. Everyone knows that IBM made T43's were the last true ThinkPads.
>DrayTek, TP-Link, Raisecom, and Cisco
>Cisco

MikroTikchads stay winning.

What you described sounds like some kind of nvidia issue. I've never had any problems with suspend/resume. But I never use nvidia. It's just worked for me. At least once I have it set up to actually sleep on whatever events I want.

Yeah. I couldn't agree more.

About Lunduke, I don't completely hate everything he says, and like you mentioned, he is the only person that will cover some things at all. Which is why I will still watch his videos.

But, there are some things I really, don't like about what he does. One, is the blatant hypocrisy that he pretty often shows. Blatantly spinning stories, or just borderline lying, I can't think of anything I could say he knowingly lied about, but when you see him talk about something, that you happen to know about. It becomes really obvious what he is doing. As if it wasn't without having some kind of incite. But he is very obviously willing to stretch the truth, to make something more sensational, or to fit the narrative he is trying to push. So it puts everything else he covers into question, and I have to take most things with a grain of salt, at least if he is doing any kind of editorialism.

Speaking of, let me rant a bit...
if there is ever a "Apple" of the networking hardware segment it'd be cisco. Why?See, apple iPhones are overpriced, overdone, basically a status symbol, you don't need the newest one, even tough they say you do, it';s full of proprietary garbage and the only "good" iPhones are those released 3 - 4 generations before the newest one IF you can find it on ebay for a half-decent price. Otherwise, go buy a samsung, or, if you don't need all these features go get a redmi or one of samsung's budget phonesCisco is exactly the same. EXACTLY the same. I do NOT need you 2000$ 32 port enterprise grade swtich rack mountable Poe+++ xtreme 48V super security bullshit switch when i can go buy two 16 port switches off netgear for like... half the price, if that. (Just checked, apparently netgear has the Easy Smart PoE+ Switch (GS116EPP) which is basically the cisco switch but like, half of it, and it costs 320$.) So buying two of them not only gives you the same features, it does it for LESS than half the price. And if i absolutely NEED "enterprise grade switching and support" (whatever that is) i'd go buy a ubiquity switch. Are they any cheaper? Not by a whole much, but atleast they know their segment and don't make you feel the same sort of embarrassment off buy their switches like you'd get off of wasting 3000$ on a iPhone 17 pro plus max ultra 5G whatever else. Oh, also, they don't scrfew you over like cisco does upgrade wise. Want that feature that's already in your switch but need to unlock it? 500$ please. Like, DUDE I ALREADY PAID YOU 3000$ FOR YOUR SWITCH. Just... ew, not only that, but, like, admittedly, the only good cisco switch is a used one off ebay. From a couple years ago. Otherwise go buy ubiquity or netgear of whoever else. Also. I took the first year CCNA course, HALF of that, yeah HALF was learning how to use their batshit insane CLI. The other half was cramming stuff they didn't even explain properly or even BOTHER to explain easily, even. So now im playing catchup with the skills i shoulda learned. Meanwhile ubiquity, TP-link and so on all have perfectly fine UI's and don't force you into a garbage walled garden ecosystem EXACTLY LIKE APPLE DOES!!!1 And, it's the same status symbol thing. A company, yeah, coulda bought used cisco switches from 5 years ago, and they'd still proudly proclaim "WE USE CISCO". It's like me running around saying "I PAID 50000$ FOR A MACBOOK EVEN TOUGH I COULDA GOTTEN THE SAME PERFORMANCE FROM A ASUS". Anywho, rant over. Again, Ubiquity? They aren't that much cheaper too, i'd admit, (noit that im advocating for them, or for any mentioned company), however, they, atleast know their lane, have a decent UI, and most importantly: DO NOT SCREW YOU OVER, UPSELL, HAVE PROPRIETARY BS AND CHARGE YOU ABSURD MONEY FOR BASIC UPGRADES!. Yes their hardware is expensive, if not sometimes more than cisco, but once you bought it, that's it. You aren't paying them any more than that. Just like samsung. Ubiquity then is the samsung of networking. About as expensive? Sure. But atleast if you need the features you are getting a relatively better time.

TL;DR: Cisco is a overpriced status symbol for networking exactly how apple is for phones. Mikrotik FTW

Network namespaces are great for this. You can start a WireGuard interface in the default namespace, so it has network access to talk to its endpoint, then move it into a new namespace. Any process confined to that namespace will only see the WireGuard interface and not be able leak anything.
A little warning if you use s*stemd: resolved leaks DNS queries across network namespaces

has anyone used umu launcher to run windows games? https://github.com/Open-Wine-Components/umu-launcher
I'm using umu with conty (Linux container project by a Rutracker Moderator) as a universal wine game container.
Put:
Code:
export PROTONPATH=GE-Proton
export WINEPREFIX=~/.wine
export WINE=~/.local/share/Steam/compatibilitytools.d/GE-Proton10-15/files/bin-wow64/wine
in your .profile, .zhrc, .bashrc or whatever shell profile you have so winetricks can find it.
In my experience winetricks works best via grabbing it from the github t if you're having problems
Code:
wget https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Winetricks/winetricks/master/src/winetricks
Make it executable
You can put it anywhere and use an alias to run it.
Code:
chmod +x winetricks
You can make a command like
Code:
wine() {
    conty umu-run "$@"
}
To run games.
Obviously the path to umu-run will be different spending on where it installs on your distro. But I don't put umu in the container, I run it outside of it using the binaries provided on github. Much easier to deal with.
