I still think cinammon, is the best option for a "full featured" desktop environment. I'm also pretty confident that by the time they move over to wayland by default, I will still be able to stay the same. They value the stability probably the most of any of the people providing a desktop. Which from what I can tell is a big reason they haven't rushed to move things over to wayland. That, and they as far as I know are probably splitting their time pretty heavily continuing to support x11 fully, while doing the work to get their wayland implementation fully functional.

I haven't check back in on the progress they've made on their wayland session. I know a year or two ago it was definitely in the early stages still. I would guess it's further along now, but probably not to where I would suggest people use it.
There's a new version of Cinnamon coming out by Christmas, with the beta coming in the next week or two. It does have some nice visual updates and allegedly improves Wayland support to an undefined degree

Speaking of XLibre, I kind of want to make a secondary config for it, but I'm not sure what WM to run. i3 used to be my go-to before jumping ship to Sway then Hyprland, but I kinda wanna WM hop some more. Choice here is between: StumpWM, AwesomeWM and bspwm. StumpWM seems kinda cool cause of it being so very deliciously lispy, but I hear a lot of good things about both Awesome and bspwm.

I think all of them are considered good, I'm not sure if any have dedicated Xlibre support for features like Xnamespace yet tho

dwm, but since you didn't mention that I would say awesomeWM which started as a fork of dwm

Seems the latest mesa driver forces vsync on which causes artifacts under X11

Gnome is only good for Mactards wanting to switch over to Linux. I've played around with it at times. I've always liked KDE Plasma way better. I also feel that KDE Plasma has AMAZING customization built in.

I used to love Gnome 2.x, Gnome 3 is an abomination to the point comparing it to Mac OS is unfair to Apple. KDE 6 is fantastic and is my goto now.

i used to shit on arch cause i'd run a system update it'd freeze on grub and my fuckin efivars would be wiped
but lately i've been running artix and my shit's rock solid. i had some bugs with some versions of kde but they fixed those eventually

It doesn't say which voltage it actually runs the I/O pins at. Probably 3.3v, maybe, maybe not.
Here's 2, with wires, with switchable voltage for under $2 more.

Obviously double check the jumper before use. Use a meter if you have one.
Im not very good at electrical engineering stuff like at all.

Im sorry guys but if im unable to get this from the TV I can still likely continue with the project and emulating it.
the model I chose is a kdl32bx300.

But ill try regardless on something simple and then move my way up. Ill have to ask some questions first before i make my next blogpost of me doing this.

1. How can a jumper wire fail? assuming that is just a ribbon cable. Its just a metal contact point on both sides, I know that sometimes the metal can touch each other and lead to issues. But are jumper cables failing a thing I need to be concerned about.
2, Im scared
3, Is this a situation where I have to "Rip off the bandaid"

Doesn't fedora default video player fail to play hevc/av1 (and maybe even h264) videos? it also doesn't support hardware video acceleration on amd (rip laptop battery and performance) because of muh codec license.

If you're installing it on your mom's shitbox you can install VLC (what normie is playing videos these days outside of Chrome?) and nonfree drivers. Ubuntu was the same forever.

If you want a knuckle-dragging retard distro and aren't so paranoid you're afraid the CCP is going to steal grandma's cookie recipes there's always FydeOS.

When I say the jumper I mean the one on the board, it says "3.3v" "5v" and you need to make sure it's set correctly. The wires should be connected before connecting the USB side of the adapter so there's no chance of shorting live wires. Obviously the TV should also be off.

Yeah i basically have the same answer as @dec05eba I would to with awesome because its more dwm like. Of course you will need to at be willing to mess with lua to configure it. One plus is how much awesome can do.

Another choice in a similar vein as awesome is qtile. The main difference being its written in python. Or of course dwm. If you have never used it, you will need to get used to the suckless way of doing things, that is patching the source to add features (they have a ton of premade patches to add things but if you are comfortable with C you can extend it yourself).

The other main difference being, by default you can't change the config at runtime. Which sounds annoying if you are used to constantly messing with your config, but it never actually mattered much once I have the config set up. Which is when most of the time is spent using it. Also their is a patch that lets you restsrt it in place if you really want to get rid of that.

Just saw this.

Yes of course, but I was quoting the part about
>retard friendly as Ubuntu and Mint these days if you leave it alone IMO.
Fedora intentionally avoids licensed codecs (just like windows with hevc) which makes it worse for users by default. Same for opensuse iirc (and some other corporate distros). This is a good reason to not use corporate distros.

In a followup that nobody asked for: suck my cock kwallet, KeepassXC my beloved. To anyone using KDE Plasma and thinking of trying out sway/chudland/niri: Swap that shit out for KeepassXC immediately and never deal with this stupid bullshit again.
