Just tried Artix recently. If you come from EndeavourOS, it uses the same installer so it isn't that much different. You do have to install yay yourself though, and alter some configs if you want to install Steam.

if a Linux build could market itself more to the corporate world
I kinda want this, and yet I kinda don't.

One one hand it would benefit the IT department greatly because then they wouldn't have to deal with stupid shit like reoccurring license fees for software. I keep hearing from every suit how they need to save money and shit and yet they have no problem giving Microsoft or adobe their sheckles. I''m sure the coders would enjoy the fact that whatever software they use would be open-source so they can change it to however the company needs it. On the other hand, corops have this annoying tendency to fuck up everything they touch or get involved with, because to them it's never enough. I can imagine a few higher ups bitchign that they want their Linux to be more like Windows and eventually whatever changes are made are going to infect the rest of the Linux ecosystem.

A big part of it is that Windows still dominates most people's work computers, as it is people's employers that determine what OS they install on their PCs for their employees. You have to use the software that your employer picks for you, and many proprietary programs that are exclusive to certain companies are only compatible with Windows.

As I said before, if a Linux build could market itself more to the corporate world, you would see more widespread adoption among the average user because of all of the people that many large companies employ. However, since Linux is almost exclusively relegated to the private-user market, it is still going to be a curiosity in the eyes of most people.
If Steam could implement a way to support DRM that cannot be easily hacked, they could market themselves as a platform for deploying windows based professional software on Linux.
Using the Steam system will ensure the software works on all Linux distros, either through proton or Linux Runtime. And it can act as a centralized system for managing licensing. Steam for Business could be a really big market niche

I tried to get my grandma on Linux Mint a few years ago but that fell flat on its face because she still needs Microsoft Office and TurboTax

Wasn't even out of autistic software evangelist reasons but she had shat up her desktop with malware for the millionth time and never seemed to "get" Windows so I figured the learning curve of another completely new UI was moot lol.

It may or may not be placebo, but SonicDE feels snappier than KDE.
Edit. Some drama may come out in future Yeah, groomcord, I'll nuke it eventually because it pisses me off sometimes.

I think that's part of why FOSS supporters are smelly nerds and never some gigachads/gigastacies who are "just noticing things". Except for me and whomever is reading this, of course :v)
I want you to know I read all your posts as if you're your profile picture. Meaning I see you as an actual chad writing this all out with a basketball in your other hand.

A patch seems to have finally been made for this issue, and people are having good results for it so I just spent the last 20 minutes figuring out how to apply patches to linux tkg. God I hope this works or I will be very mildly upset.

How a bug as massive as "computer will randomly freeze after 30 minutes to an hour and needs a hard reset to work again" stands around on and off for Literally Years is baffling and AMD should be ashamed of themselves for letting it stay around for that long.
Didnt work. Decided to check if it was a hardware problem, didn't check it before because other people were flooding the github with the same issues. Reseated everything in hopes it fixes it. Nope.

Now on Windows 10 (ltsc ofc) after 8 years of daily driving Linux. Thanks AMD. It's been rock solid for about an hour. Going to be running furmark for a few hours to make extra sure though. Maybe next year will be the year of the linux desktop. *sigh*

>Maintain two separate codebases for the same project
>Let the older code rot and die, only scraping the fat and doing bare minimal removals in order to "fix it"
>Still better than the new shit

I want all trannies to suffer. I guarantee their response is going to be "well we didn't want to maintain it so uhh we just disabled things to make it work instead!"

Slight concern about my new xlibre setup
I use a couple appimages with WebKit gtk and I need a software renderer workaround for nvidia on xorg which will be deprecated soonish
The Nvidia configuration app is still x11 I don't think they have any plans of depreciating x11 anytime soon

The word went to shit when Linus Torvalds apologized for being an occasionally abrasive asshole and cunts like Lennart Poettering were allowed to "innovate" and have influence in the Linux world.
